Fallen Heretic
I just found this out today. The Royal Mint are often producing limited edition collectable coins, but this one is not deliberate. All you UK folks, or anyone who has visited the UK this year and still has change, check your 20p coins carefully, it could be worth much more than 20p. This effects only a small number of the new designs produced last year. See the designs here . The new back means they had to move the date stamp from the 'tail' side to the 'head' side. however, a mistake meant a run of coins went out with the old dateless head side, and new dateless tail side. Coins with no date are very rare indeed. Now, if you have any new 20p with no date on them, you can register it with the royal mint, and they will give you a £50 reward for returning it to them (if you pre-register it at their website). But it gets better than that. Due to the rarity of these, coin collectors are going nuts for them. Some have been getting as much as £250 at coin auctions. So seriously, check your change. You could be sitting on a lot of cash.
