RIVERWORLD

Welcome to my oldest and most recent creation, Riverworld. Riverworld was created in December of 2002 and first released on RCT2.com. It was my original “mini-park” and one of the first “sequential” parks for RCT2. Each year of Riverworld is meant to be a year of real-life time, starting with 2002.

I decided to open back up the original Riverworld back in May of 2008 and get back to building, starting with 2004. Little by little each section of the park is receiving renovation to bring it up to date, including new rides, shops, midways, and more. I plan on continuing the series for as long as people are still interested.

Check back here often as I will update this thread with announcements, teasers, new downloads, and anything else I can come up with off the top of my head.

Enjoy, and please post lots of comments and criticisms!

-Jon

Park History

2002

The original release of Riverworld was in December of 2002, shortly after the game debuted. The park was based around four roller coasters: Scenic Railway, a 1918 custom-built side friction coaster; Riverworld Cyclone, a 1948 PTC wooden coaster; Boomerang, a 1991 Vekoma boomerang coaster; and the “new” Twistar, a Vekoma SLC. The park also featured several other rides, including a drop tower, shoot-the-chutes, and a carousel.

2003

For the 2003 season, Riverworld moved Splash, the Hopkins shoot-the-chutes ride, just north of the Scrambler, also unfortunately covering the helix turnaround of the Riverworld Cyclone. The move was to make room for a new ride for the 2004 season. In addition, deconstruction had begun on the Scenic Railway, which was becoming too costly to continue to repair. The 2003 release would be the final original release.

2004

In 2008, I decided to pick back up the 2003 version of the park and continue building the Riverworld series. For 2004, the park added a HUSS Top-Spin ride called Super Spin and continued deconstruction on the Scenic Railway. Not much was done as preservationists gathered funds to move the coaster to another location. The tunnel was removed from the Riverworld Cyclone and Twistar got a new queue line.

2005

For the 2005 season, the Falling Star was moved north of Super Spin. Deconstruction on the Scenic Railway was nearly completed, and a clearing was popping up just south of the Dog House restaurant. 2005 would be the final season for Splash as well as the original park entrance.

2006

In 2006, the park debuted a new pirate-themed waterpark, including two waterslides. The park also moved the Chaos ride north of Boomerang, and started deconstruction on Splash. Retracking of the Riverworld Cyclone was started and halfway finished. Late in the season, a fatal accident on Twistar led to its closure.

2007

After a major storm knocked out the turnaround on the Riverworld Cyclone as well as ripping up trees, combined with the accident on Twistar, major renovations were underway for 2008 and 2009. The turnaround on the Cyclone was rebuilt by Gravity Group as a temporary fix, and temporary queues were installed on the giant concrete pad formerly home to the Carousel, which was moved north of Falling Star. Deconstruction began on Twistar, which the park sued manufacturer Vekoma over.

2008

The 2008 season brought major changes to the Riverworld skyline. A new coaster, Ninja, was built on the former location of Twistar. An Intamin mega-lite, it filled the void created by not only Twistar but also the Cyclone closing. The Dog House was torn down to make way for new additions coming in 2009 and 2010.

2009

The most recent version of Riverworld is 2009, which brings even more changes to the park. The park won the Twistar case against Vekoma and was able to pay off Ninja faster than originally anticipated. A giant boardwalk is currently under construction on the former location of the Cyclone, where a new coaster from the Gravity Group is currently taking shape. To be called Lake Flyer, it will open in 2010 and feature two dips under not only the ground, but also the water. It will be the shortest Gravity Group coaster in length upon its opening.

Here are somethings that stuck out to e.

You should have had more buildings, it just does not look right with all the rides in the center of the paths.

Also it doesnt look good to just have your wooden roller coaster out in the middle of the water.

That's my building in 2002 for you. I didn't know much about building a very good back then, and that's why the park is slowly getting rebuilt piece by piece. More buildings, themeing, landscaping, and other changes are being put in place as the seasons go on. By the 2015 season the park will be completely different.

I've almost got the Lake Flyer done, and then a few other small changes are underway for the 2010 season. Hope to be done with 2010 by the end of the week.
