Shavethewhales Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Read this -> http://www.kotv.com/news/topstory/?id=135092 It's the single greatest piece of journalism I've seen in years. Now we finally see what Bell's was planning: not just a new roller coaster, but an entire new park. They had plans to re-build the park where it stood from the ground up, with new flats, a new river rapids, a new steel coaster, and of course, a massive new wooden coaster that dwarfed Zingo. They were even going to give the park a park-wide theme. Unstable business? Randi will have to run out of town quick before the lynch mob forms. This is what she gets for asking Bell's to publicly release their business plans. Bell's was fit to burst with a new era of expansion and prosperity, so it's not just a coincidence that their biggest competitor happened to pay off the very people that opted to kick Bell's out - and was then given Bell's land. Anyone who's still attempting to argue that Bell's was 'run-down' cannot begin to make a case against allowing Bell's to re-build it's self on this magnitude.
linearinduction Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I certainly haven't seen any pictures of Bell's looking "Run Down." That Signed Agreement from Larson International for the Super Loop and the Plans for the new Coaster and Park Upgrades looked like more than enough reason to renew Bell's Lease. I hope Bells Finds a new home soon and includes all of those "upgrades" planned for their old location as part of it.
Shavethewhales Posted August 31, 2007 Author Posted August 31, 2007 ^That's because it wasn't run-down at all. I'm still scratching my head as to why people thought so. I guess to bulk of the people who complained thus are also those thought Zingo was about to fall over because 'they haven't built wooden coasters for over a hundred years'. Some people need to discover that Disneyland isn't the only other park out there. Anyway, here's my take on it all: At last, everything one could want to know about Bell's future plans, the Fair's decision, and the Murphy's involvement has been revealed. KOTV posted this wonderful piece of journalism today that details everything about the scenario, and one shining truth stands out: Bell's was on the verge of expansion in massive ways, and the Murphy Brother's wanted none of it. Thus, it's hard to believe that it's coincidence that the Murphy's felt the need to give Randi Miller and others 'campaign gifts' that particular year, and that those same people went on to not only kick Bell's out, but practically give the Murphy's the land. Unstable business? What kind of sick asshole calls an 50+ year-old amusement park that's about to re-build it's self and add two new roller coasters (one of them being by far the largest in the state) an unstable business? Those fools, anyone who argued before that Bell's was 'run-down', cannot now say that it was wise to not allow them the chance to fix everything so magnificently. Everything everyone wanted Bell's to do, Bell's was going to do. The only people who didn't want Bell's to prosper thus just happened to be Bell's biggest competitors, and as I said before, they just happened to feel generous that year toward the fair officials. The smoking gun couldn't be more clear if it shot you right in the face. Just look at the plans though... It hurts to see how we now have missed out on so, so much. That single rendering shows not only a massive new coaster that absolutely dwarfs Zingo, but also a new Galixi coaster, a rapids ride, and several new flats, along with new midways, theming, and pretty much a completely new park all-around. It would have been good... Oh well, at least Bell's will have a chance to do this anyway, hopefully. They didn't even have to waste money on that Larson Super-Loop. Any communities or entities that were wondering what to think about Bell's propositions should be at ease now, so the requests should start flowing in again now, and life will be easier for the Bell's. One last note: Bell's is indeed still search for a spot - but fear not, this is to be expected. The fair is trying to say that the reason Bell's hasn't been miraculously re-built already is that everyone else knows what a bad business man Robby is, but the facts are just the opposite. If you're planning to build a new park, you don't just run out there and buy the first thing you see, you wait and look at all the possibilities and debate with all the local councils to get the very best deal. The fact that Bell's hasn't bought a new home yet is evidence of Robby's careful guidance. In case you forgot, all the surrounding communities did in fact know what a good business man Robby was, and that's why they sent in so many pleas for Bell's to come to them. Robby is still sorting through them. I expect to see them buy a piece of land this winter, and the park should be open by 2009. I actually hope that they don't open in 2008 because that would mean cutting corners, and we want Bell's to be in the absolute best shape possible when it makes it's grand re-entry to the world - that'll just crush the fair's claims for good.
