Any suggestions on doing a circuit from DC to Cedar Point? What's a good route, ie. which parks should I hit in which order? What parks are worth going to, and what are a waste of time? We can assume the trip would be early in the season, maybe the first week of June. In the past I've just done one off trips to parks. I have a ton of vacation time to burn up, and a few days built around getting to Cedar Point (it's only 6 hours away) and back seems like a fine way to take that vacation time.

On the way, you could probably do:

- SFA

- Hersheypark

- Dutch Wonderland (Lady Gay rules!)

- Kennywood

- Idlewild

- Geauga Lake

You can probably do Dorney Park and Knoebel's too.

If you want to go straight through without going off the beeline path, do SFA, Hersheypark, Dutch Wonderland (can be done in a few hours), Kennywood, and Geauga Lake.

Thanks for that list. I really appreciate it. I guess the next step is to scatter plot them and see what route makes the most sense.

I don't mind a round about path. I was actually wondering if making a really wide pass through Ohio to hit Kings Island would be worth it. It seems like it has more than a few rides in common with Kings Dominion. If there aren't enough other parks to warrant the detour then I'll save it for another trip.

That's a wide pass if you want to go from PA to KI. You'll pass through West Virginia, but the only park I know of there is Camden Park. If you do KI, you can also hit SFKK, Holiday World, Beech Bend (a little further south), and Wonderpark and Coney Island in Cincy.

Going from DC if you wanna hit Kings Island first, you could always go down I-95 to Kings Dominion, then hop onto I-64 over thought WVa and stop at Camden like Barry said, then You can go on to Louisville to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Go up I-71 to Kings Island.

Another Idea is that if you really want to hit a bunch of parks, You can do a complete loop. If you do that I would suggest getting a MaxX Pass at either Kings Dominion or Dorney. They will both be cheaper than any of the three Ohio parks

If you do the loop thing, you can do:

- Ocean City, NJ coasters

- BGE

- Kings Dominion

- Camden Park

- Beech Bend

- SFKK

- KI

- Holiday World

- Credit whoring at Coney Island, Wonderpark, Wyanot Lake (if still open)

- Cedar Point

- GL

- Kennywood

- Idlewild

- Knoebel's

- Dorney

- Hersheypark

- Dutch Wonderland

- SFA

There's a few Jeepers you could credit whore in Maryland too.

Oh, one more thing...in addition to the Maxx Pass, if you're going to SFKK and SFA, buy a SF season pass. I think SFKK sells them for around $50.

Thanks again for the input. It's helping turn a hazy idea into a more concrete plan.

Some of those I had already planned as day trips or half day trips. Anything that is sub 3 hours from DC will be a day trip, unless it makes sense in context with the route to Cedar Point.

I'll post a proposed itinerary if any other TPR folks want to meet at any of the parks. The more the merrier.

Have fun!

If you want to hit Delware, you can go to Blue Diamond Park. It's not the greatest, but it might be good for the loop trip or a day excurison from DC.
