TR- Lake Compounce and Haunted Graveyard

Went to Lake Compounce Saturday, 10/21. 40 degrees, 5-10 MLP winds. We arrived at 5:00. Took a quick ride on BoulderDash. Its running rough even in the first car. Didn't get a lot of air.

Took a ride on the train to take some pics (below). Kind of neat how in the background BoulderDash is in focus, but the trees we passed are blurry.

Wasted 20 minutes on the Flyers. The ride op loads the cars, then goes out the gate and chats with someone for 10 minutes. She finally does her pre-ride inspection, and 2 people couldn't buckle the belt and had to get off.

Next we went to Haunted Graveyard. I cannot begin to say how dissapointed I was. But I guess the 3-year-old kid in back of me said it best: "Mommy, this is boring, when does it end?" Nice concept, some nice effects, but 45 miuntes of going through maze after maze and around every corner someone yells Boo or gunts or moans.

I'll take lame CP's Halloweekends Frontier Trail over this anytime.

When we get out of there, its totally dark and about 35 degrees.

Went back BoulderDash. Rode in the front seat. Totally sick ride. Its flying through the course with ejector air. You can barely see the track in front of you. Totally wild ride. Had to do it again.

Left after that. Overall a decent time. But don't waste your money on Haunted Graveyard.

But if you're going to Lake Compounce sometime, check out the NE Railroad Museum. Its about 20 minutes East of Lake Compounce on Rt. 6 just over the bridge in Thomaston. They have a 20 mile train ride on old Naugatuck Railroom train, old pullman cars, some with wood enterior. The route is along the Naugatuck River and ends up running along the face of an old dam.
