Great Adventure or Cedar point
mateony replied to Sephiroth77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You can drink in the queue now? HOLLA! -
Nah, not really. I figured I'd post some "outtakes" so to speak of my last trek to Great Adventure. See first TR here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37037&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 I have been back to the park since then and am happy to report that operations are pretty much still top notch. Great year for Great Adventure..now on to the picture trash! R.I.P - That's all from me! Front rows = Smiles times Back rows = Not so much Down we go.. Lush! ROW 2: She looks like she's having the big "O". ROW 6: She looks like the big "O"! Matt's signature shot! Ouch! Ouch! Good thing I'm wearing my space diaper! Over the river and through the woods! I can't believe how dark Toro has gotten. The wood. How dark the wood...nevermind. ROW 6: "Where's my scrunchie!?!?!" Love the foliage around Toro's turnaround. Torownage! OOOOH! So that's where all the props from Batman's junkyard queue went! [/beer googles] In dim lighting anyone, erm any coaster can look good! Poor faded, secluded Medusa. Still a great ride though. Intamin AQUATRAX!!

My 5-year old nephew stayed over for the weekend, and I was in charge of returning him to my brother (who lives in NJ). So why not avoid any sister-in-law interaction, and take him to Great Adventure! Hahaha. I'm happy to report that we had an awesome day. The place was pretty packed, but the ride ops were PUMPING the trains out. You could see the shift in morale, and the energy was contagious. So my brother met me, and took the little one home, and I ventured back into the park (probably around 6PM) to get in some rides. Wanted to get some dusk/night shots, since I don't recall seeing many..and here we go.. ..and I leave you with blurry arrow loopage... Hey, I'd take a "Football field" coaster, over a "Parking lot" view ANYDAY! Probably my favorite picture of the night.. Yolk.. I see an "S" Minus the pretzel loop, the ride is a snoozer, but MAN does it photograph well.. ..and now time for Superman sexiness! It was nearing 10, and I decided to make my exit.. I forgot how nice the wheel looks all lit up.. Oh pretty!² Oohh pretty! Desolate. The entire Plaza Del Carnaval area is just nicely done, and really pops at night. ..love the lights.. Great Adventure really seems to come alive at nightfall.. ..and after my shameless exit, and chugging, I re-entered, and rode last row. Unbelievable speed/airtime. Just crazy. ...and yeah...I voluntarily removed myself from the line after not realizing (I'm blonde..) that you can't drink beer in line..Sad. Grim. I know. I know. The lady was pretty sweet though, "Ohhhh, dear..hmmmm..you're really not supposed to...ohh...". Twas cute. But hey! They enforce the rules! LOL.. The line for Toro was only in the first set of switchbacks for most of the time. Let me say it again, the slowing of the lift (and it's only at the very top), takes NOTHING away from the rest of the ride. Twister section was especially insane.. Weeee! Of course, then I ran back to Toro for some sunset sexiness...and my camera batteries died (charging them before going would just make too much sense). $20 later, I had 4AA batteries... One train was leaving the station, leaving the lift, all the while the last train was hitting the brakes. Now that's hauling op's! Nitro is such a crowd pleaser.. B&M brings the sexy.. Toro was running EXTREMELY fast last night. At this point I hauled ass to the other side of the park to get some dusk Batman/Nitro goodness... El Toro through lush tropical vegitation! They are so "ZOMG!" I got on Ka at around 8 or 9, with a 10 minute wait. The lines may look bad, but you don't stop moving until you're in the station. Oh la la! 4 trains, launching everytime you turn around. Awesome crew. Hey! I'm open! Ride me! Lonely cable car..

Photo TR: Matt goes to Dorney Park...

Which I think is part of the problem. It *does* look stunning, in addition to the fact that the layout is so unique, especially for B&M. I also wondered why everyone hated on it so much. It is basically forceless, and worst of all, boring. It sure is pretty to look at though! -

..and the finale... They do have a decent B&M! ..and back over the bridge we go. Hope you enjoyed! Until next time... ...welcome to NY! Thus ending my day at Dorney. I really wasn't expecting the crowds that I fell upon, so that might've jaded my opinion from the start, but I still had fun! ..and they did clear the wave pool. Apocolypto! I decided to call it a day, and waited out the storm in the car.. WAVE POOL TIME!!!!!!!!!1!1!!!11 Uh oh, coasters got shut down, storms rolling in, you know what that means.................. That's a sexy looking flyer! Oh wait. Yikes! Those clouds don't look good. Hey, what's with those clouds? Zero-Gizzle! Ooh purty.. Upskirt.. Down we go! Now I realize why I had so much freaking sand on my face when I got home. Loopage I thought Talon was pretty fun. Not that intense, but a nice crowd pleaser.. -

...coasterz... GRIM. ....finale is coming up... Hmmm..Don't my eyes wish this was enforced! The only thing better than this "Gangstaz" outfit/cornrows, is the "Bitch please!" look the little girl on the far left is giving him! Sunblock is your friend... I went back and forth in thinking that either A) This is a really nice section of the park or B) Gang rape alley. Still ain't sure.. Billy Ray Cyrus ridin' dirty... But it wasn't that bad.. Was kinda suprised by Thunderhawk. I was expecting to have the crap beat out of me.. ..tis old and ricketty! ..and they have a woody too! ..talk about holding on for dear life.. Helix o' death.. THROUGH THE HEDGES! Isn't Dorney trying to boot Laser? I know it's a portable, but the station & queue were in pretty sad shape. Mmmmm. Schwarzkopf goodness. -
Decided to make the credit trek to Dorney Park last Monday (6/11). Hmmm..the park. If I only had one word to describe it...GHETTO. Lots of concrete, mediocre coasters, and garbage cans. Alas, it was still better than being at work! Had to leave Long Island early enough to miss the rush hour traffic, so I started my day bright and early.. ....to be continued.....(yeah, I take way too many pictures..hahah) Hey Great Adventure - THESE are humps. Look! Trees! The area by Steal Force is actually one of the nice parts of Dorney.. The trains are a HOT MESS! Talk about uncomfortable. Steel Force was my first Morgan hyper. Not in a rush to try out any others.. Up they go.. Hey! They have other coasters! Twisties! It does LOOK like a great ride though, doesn't it? ..and yeah, Hydra had THE worst/slowest OP's of ANY RIDE, ANYWHERE! We are in the clouds! I do love how Dorney integrated the queue & landscaping around the ride. We are the upsidedownz! OMG! :::rattle::: Doesn't everyone look bored? :::rattle::: The jojo has some nice hangtime, but that's about it. ...and it's not. Is this the Big Lots model of a B&M? I really wanted to like it. It looks sexy. It's got a unique layout, but it sucks. Sexy looking coaster! Should be good... Hey! They have rolly coastiez hurr! Hi! I'm Hydracortizone: The Ride. Thank god for all the shade! Oh wait...At least there's garbage cans! ..apparently the kids were still ON the buses. First thought upon entry: Concrete Jungle. My chariot for the day. Gave the car a fresh coat of wax the day before. And yeah...HOLY BUSES. Yay! I made it! With only one(!) near death collision. Bonus. Through the hilly fog o' death.. Nice toll. I heart NY. ..and were off!

Thanks everyone! We did hit up the beer tour in Germany. They didn't have the Red-Bull-ish new one that I wanted to try, but I did try some Land Shark (Tasted exactly like Corona), Skip Jack, and something else that I can't recall the name of. I'm also starting to think that my opinion of Apollo might have been jaded a bit by Griffin. Hahhaha, it's kinda hard to follow up that drop.
-
Hahahha - thanks. Long time lurker, first time poster.. That's all for now folks! Hope you enjoyed! Unacceptable amount of wetness.. Not too sure what she's scratching at.. It's the Hudson river! ..starring Jack Nicholson & Michelle Phieffer "I will eat your babies!" *we interrupt this trip report to bring you a message from our sponsor* Aside from all the rides, Busch Gardens is beautifully landscaped..

More shizz.. And yes, there's more.. I kinda wish I could've been hit in the face with a bird, at least that would've added a little excitement. I was really looking forward to Apollo (only other B&M hyper I've ridden is Nitro). Needless to say I was bored to tears. I must say my first ride was in the middle of the train, subsequent rides were in the last row which was much better. Again..those tr Lots o' lines.. Hi! I'm all the way on the other side of the park, and trimmed to death, ride me! ©Mateo's Exclusive Shots Hold me.

Was there on Tuesday & Wednesday, and it was EMPTY. I must say, they have the sexiest looking collection of coasters anywhere! This newbie will start the show with the newbie coaster... While the inversions & second drop were impressive, they left me a bit underwhelmed. The first drop really is the main event. OH! NOZE! First drop really does take your breath away... I loved hearing the front row's reaction once on the holding break. Dayum. Rough wait. Although the sign says 0 minutes, the wait was really just 10-15 minutes for most of the day. What I came for...
