The EOS 300D is a great camera. It's an entry level digital SLR, so there are a lot of functions that it doesn't have. The new Canon EOS 350D will be coming out in March which was just announced at PMA. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0502/0...non_eos350d.asp It has a lot of features from the 20D, but there are still some missing. Although I'm not sure that most people will use those extra features.
For point and shoot and prosumer cameras, Canon has the best to offer. I would strongly suggest a Powershot A95, which is about $400 (US currency) I have an A80 (Which was replaced by the A95) and it is a great camera. Remember that that megapixels don't determine the quality of the picture which is a very common misconception. People automatically thing "Oh this one has more megapixels so it must be better" and that's not true. If you're going to make big prints of your photos, then you'll want a camera with more megapixels. If you are just going to use them for the web and don't need big resolution, then 3.2 megapixels will be just fine.
Sorry for ranting on so long, it's just that I'm really into photography. (Should have my Canon EOS 20D by April)
EDIT: If you want a site to compare cameras, go to http://www.dpreview.com Probably the best site to compare and review cameras.
