Opening Day 1985:
-Frank Simmons
Welcome to Opening Day! I won't bore you guys with all the business stuff, so let's go straight into pictures.
I arrived at the park at around 8:30 AM and was shocked by the line forming in front of the entrance.
Early lines forming. Believe me, they picked up later in the day!
Here's a view of the entrance plaza without any lines. (By the way, that building was based off of one another thread (I'm not very good with entrances) I can't remember the user who posted it, but if I remember it I will be sure to mention you.)
Close-up view of the ticket booths.
The park didn't open until 9:00, so I had some time to take pictures. Here's one of a pond.
Another beautiful pond along the path to the entrance.
I just can't get over how breathtaking these ponds are!
Here's the last one of a pond, I swear.
Here's a nice view of the fountain at the entrance.
I finally got into the park. Surprisingly it wasn't that crowded yet, probably because of a forecast for rain.
On the right of the entrance I was greeted with a nice building with general information about the park.
This is another view after entering the park. I also noticed some rain coming down at this point.
The first ride I encountered today was the Grand Carousel. It was fun and relaxing start to the day.
Grand Carousel is one of 5 rides in the park's first area, Welcome Pier. The Pier is fun for the whole family and is very photogenic.
The next ride I rode was Fun Wheel. It was a pretty generic ferris wheel, but it provided a really nice view of the park.
Fun Wheel was originally located in a park in Europe. However, after that park closed due to bankruptcy, it was transported to here.
The exit of the Fun Wheel is one of my favorite things about this park. It truly shows how much detail went into making this park so scenic.
The next ride I rode was Frenzy. This unique ride is one of the most thrilling rides in the park.
Here's a nice picture of the entrance to Frenzy.
There's nothing quite like Frenzy! It's an exciting and terrifying ride that it sure to leave you dizzy.
Right around 10:30, the lines really started to pick up. There must of been a thousand people!
I'm so glad I don't have to wait in this!
I never get tired of this view!
All in all, I really enjoyed my morning at Simmons Creek Amusement Park. Unfortunately I had to leave early to attend a short meeting, but I promise I will back after lunch for more pictures. Until then, have a great day, and see you later at Simmons Creek!
