I've been noticing Six Flags has been going in the "Thrill Park" direction with a lot of their new additions. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw another thrill ride (IE SkyScreamer) in the near future.
-
I was at the park yesterday for a construction tour. Top hat progress is moving along nicely! Here's my construction video: GOLIATH CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: FEBRUARY 3, 2014

Awesome photos! Can't wait to go back to Waldameer this summer!
-
I'm getting more pumped day by day seeing the structure go up. I'm still in shock and awe that my home park is getting an RMC. Let the good times roll!
-
I also saw this as sort of a pipe dream coaster. Thrilled to see multiple being built, especially with the intention of having an intense layout! Can't wait!

They changed the voting process on the contest. The contest winner is now being chosen by park management and a panel of brand experts... thoughts?
-
Not sure if you guys saw the contest SFGAm is hosting on their Facebook, but they are looking for a "Goliath Insider" to update their YouTube channel all winter long. Here is my video entry, thank you for your support! Vote for SCOTT SCHAFFER as your Goliath Insider!

They should have made the rails the lime green color that Medusa at SFDK is painted.
My thoughts exactly! I wanna see RMC try out some different colors.
This ride looks absolutely incredible. This done to The Boss would be insane. :Fingers crossed:
-
Based on the pictures, I'll make the guess that it IS reusing Z-Force's old station. Which would be awesome.
This looks to me like the wooden version of Batman. Not much in the way of negative Gs, but a ton of positive Gs. And I'm totally okay with that.
One thing I love about RMC rides is that you'll find airtime in the most unsuspecting places. I think there will be surprises.

^They should just call it Frank, or Steve. Those are way more fitting names than David.
If you wanna ride Frank, Steve, or David, download the Grindr app.
-
I'm assuming the drop is going to be 180 feet, given "180" is the next clue given on SFGAm's Twitter.
-
Iron Wolf! Wow, back in the day.
-
I'll be going to the meeting for sure. Most likely going to go to the park beforehand and grab a beer after the meeting.
-
I think that's too high a concept for ANYONE lol
I was so lost in that one.
-
^That's what I always assumed. The actual restriction states that the Village of Gurnee has to approve anything over 125 feet, and can build nothing taller than Sky Trek Tower (330 feet).
Absolutely true. Still room to break records though!
-
Can they propose to surpass the height restriction for a single ride, or are they too close to an airport? The zoning committee seems to lean in favor of SFGAm frequently, so if it were possible, they could probably get the permission. Thoughts?
Too close to the Waukegan Airport.
-
Maybe the new ride will have a "Giant Drop" ehhh? ehhhhhhh?
-
Looks like, whatever it is, will break 3 world records. I have a hunch that 2 of the 3 records are held by another ride at another Six Flags park... let's see if I'm right.
-
I haven't ridden Ragin' Cajun in years! Most likely won't miss it if it has to go. Park has a solid lineup without it. Whizzer, IMO, will always be king of the family rides there.
-
I rode Hades 360 about a week after it opened to the public. The only enjoyable seat was the front row, which actually provided a decent ride. From what it sounds like, the ride has just gotten rougher this summer.

We reported the story on SDR. Check out some of the interesting, hair raising responses: https://www.facebook.com/StopDropRollercoasters

Whats a better day to be at this park in terms of crowds Friday or Saturday (Aug 16 or 17)
Thanks!
Probably Friday. You're kinda screwed either way though.
-
Anyone else notice how the ending is a near mirror image of X-Flight?
-
Notice the name on the employee's nametag that they showed for just a second longer than necessary. David. I'm going to say the new ride will be named Goliath.

I totally agree with you, Robb. I'd rather see an amazing roller coaster layout from a proven designer than a gimmick or a record breaker any day. Add a killer layout with the amazing terrain of this park and I KNOW we'll have a winner. Scandinavia 2016!
