  1. I have been to Ocean Park twice and Disneyland once (before the expansion). Ocean Park covers a huge area in 2 separate sections. The last time I was there I only did the rides and saw some of the animals. I didn't have time for the rest of the animals or any shows. Make sure you go on the cable car! It now has the new B&M coaster too. I don't know what Disneyland is like with Toy Story Land and Grizzly Gulch area expansions, but it only brings the park's number of coasters up to 2. As it is enormous and unique I would recommend 2 days at Ocean Park and 1 day at Disneyland.
  2. Thanks for the advice! I've decided I will go on the Monday, the park is open 9:30 - 20:00 so I'll make sure to get there early. I can't really justify the cost of an express pass (4200 yen each) for my girlfriend and myself so I'll just have to hope I can get on all of the rides. rockysam382 can you give any more pointers on a touring plan? Space Fantasy last as you said, should I head to Hollywood Dream first thing or are there other attractions which are likely to have longer waits later?
  3. If I can get to USJ on the Monday (8th), should it be significantly less crowded as that is the day that school goes back?
  4. I'll be heading to Japan in April. Due to a tight touring schedule I'll only be able to hit 3 parks - USJ, Disneyland and DisneySea. Whilst in Tokyo I might try and pick up a few other credits too. Osaka: 4th - 8th April - I am planning to visit the USJ on Friday the 5th, as I can spend a whole day. I know that this is school holidays, but would it be less crowded on the Friday rather than Saturday or Sunday? - How do the "Express Pass" booklets work? Is it unlimited Front of The Line access or just once per ride? - How effective are the Single Rider lines? I'll be with my girlfriend and we don't mind splitting up to minimise waits. Tokyo: 14th - 21st April - I'm going to buy a 3 day Passport and visit the parks Tuesday 16th/Wednesday 17th/Thursday 18th in an attempt to avoid crowds as much as possible. - For the 3 days at Disney is it worth staying closer to the parks? I was thinking around Tokyo Station (20-25 min single train ride) rather than Shibuya/Shinjuku (45-50 min multiple train ride). I looked at the Maihama area itself, but hotel prices were out of my budget (max 12,000 yen/night). Cheers!
  5. I have been to Ocean Park twice, with the most recent being December 2010. I went on a weekday (can't remember exactly what day), and the park was busy. However the lines for all attractions were short, due to most of the people in the park being locals (particularly seniors) who spent the majority of their time taking photos and watching shows. In addition the attractions are spread out helping the park manage crowds, although some sections and walkways can become packed. I don't think you will have any problems in seeing all the rides/attractions/shows. However, here are some touring tips: - To save time pre purchase your ticket from any 7-Eleven store - Arrive at the park at opening time - Proceed to the "Summit" area by train/cable car and tackle the big thrill rides first (Hair Raiser, The Rapids, Abyss, Dragon etc) - Ride the other major rides (Mine Train, Flume) at your leisure - Arrive at least 15-20 minutes early for shows to secure a good seat - Take you time with the amazing animal exhibits, in particular the huge Atoll Reef - The cable car is a must for the awesome view - You can still ride the the cable car back down the mountain after the park "closes", so keep this in mind - Be prepared to do a lot of walking! I hope this helps and that you enjoy the park!
