I'm concerned that this will increase sales of Fastlane+ to the point that they may be sold out on the 19th when we get there. Do they sell out on Fastlane+ often?
You'll be fine.
Next question, we're planning on taking afternoon breaks at the waterpark so we'd like to park in that lot if possible, we'll be arriving around 8-8:30 am for early entry, when we get to the gates do we tell them this is what we're doing?Yep.
Also, are guest services at the Resort Gate set up to process the season passes I've purchased online? I would assume so, but I know where assumptions get me.They are not. You will need to process your season pass at the season pass processing center that's to the left of the main gate. (Someone please correct me if this has changed for 2018 )
Have fun!

So anyone have any updates on this new Fast Lane system at the park?
It appears there are guests who say they have eliminated the employees from the merge points for FL and FL+ and now you simply scan your wrist band at the ride entrance and then again at the station. So if that's the case, won't regular folks in the queue get upset with you merging on front of them or did CP change/move all of the Fast Lane queue's to the exits. Seems confusing
Was there all weekend and didn't experience that once. All merge points had employees controlling the flow.

RMC seems to have made some major updates to Steel Vengeance's Final Brake Run! Hopefully we'll have two train operations back shortly! (If I had to guess, this is probably how trains were supposed to slow down on the final brake run all along.)
Great video! It's impressive to see how many changes they've implemented on the final brake run. It really is a night and day difference.

Since the ride opened for the day it hasn't gone down. I call bullsh*t.
If the restraint wasn't functioning properly they wouldn't be running the ride.
The row on Digger with the restraint issues has been roped off. This is not the first time an incident like this has happened at SV. They've had multiple issues with restraints not locking and/or restraints erroneously showing a "green" status. TT had a similar incident a few weeks ago that resulted in an e-stop and evacuation on the lift hill.
Hopefully RMC can figure out what's going on with these newer trains and their restraint cylinders before a serious incident occurs.

This one is my favorite. He’s shaking at the end of the ride and might actually be crying... [youtu_be][/youtu_be]
Ha! I was actually right in front of that guy for that video (you can barely see my light grey coat). No idea if he was embellishing or not, but I genuinely thought he was going to have a heart attack and come back to the station slumped over in his seat

They make some great high-quality colorful prints, I have three of their prints... MF, Maverick, and Magnum. Shipping can take a while sometimes though, one order of mine took 3 weeks to deliver
Speaking of coaster prints, these guys have some really good minimalist-style prints as well. I got the Lightning Rod one and the quality was really good: pursuitofthrills.com

What ever happened to the lighting effects and explosion sounds for the tunnel under the station? Is this what you're talking about? I would expect SF ditching these effects, but not CF.
Turns out, if you put a bunch of LSMs in an enclosed space it wreaks havoc on electronics not meant to be exposed to a magnetic environment The closed-circuit cameras/monitors in the tunnel still gray out anytime a train is launched.

Yeah but he never went to Coastermania though...

Ouimet out Jan 1 as Cedar Fair CEO. I was never impressed with him. I never saw him at the park like Kinzel. Never made an appearance at Coastermania either. In my opinion - no big loss. Hopefully the new guy will be better. It appears he got in mix as a Paramount person and Kings Dominion GM.
You're joking, right? Ouimet is the reason Cedar Fair has turned into the phenomenal park chain it has become today... going from a $6/share stock price when Kinzel was ousted (and nearly collapsing if the sell-off were to happen) to a high of $73/share. Without him, you'd have no Hotel Breakers renovation (and expansion), no emphasis of turning Cedar Point into a true getaway/vacation spot, and no significant investment in both the experience and technology at Cedar Fair parks, not to mention the best years of coaster installations we've seen in a long time. Before him, Cedar Fair was a corporate culture highly averse to technology change and investment, whereas now Cedar Fair is the leader in terms of in-park technology, VR, mobile gaming, and mobile park apps for regional parks... and some might argue even better than some Disney and Universal offerings.

I am the only one who seems to think that the ride is a bit... overkill?
Yes.

Had a great time at the park last Friday. A big storm came through the park about 9.30ish and pretty much emptied the place out. Was at Millennium Force when it reopened around 11pm and for the last hour until closing they were letting people walk straight from the area where you get off straight back into the station it was so quiet. Kept getting straight back on the same train I just got off haha. A memorable end to a great trip, well worth the long journey to visit.
I was there as well... It was fantastic getting a solid hour of MF ERT to close out the night!

Somebody posted a picture on Facebook of a new beer brewed for cedarpoint called "iron horse". I went back to grab the picture, and it's now gone. Perhaps this could possibly be a tease for the name of mean streak 2.0?
Not new, it's been around since at least the 2015 season.

What is the weather like during october?
Like everyone has stated, weather forecasts for Cedar Point are pretty much useless, regardless of the season. I've seen days in October where one day it would be snowing, the next it could be 70º and sunny. It's bipolar midwestern weather on meth.

I've been hearing rumblings on various social media outlets about a new no camera policy that's being enforced at Kings Island and some other CF parks. Has anyone else had the experience of security not allowing you to take your DSLR into the park this season? Somewhat worrisome if the reports are accurate.

Does anyone know where the resort entrance to the park will be?
Same location, it's just moved inwards towards the park away from the road, around where the Magnum photo booth / exit used to stand and before Magnum's crossover.

Seriously people? We're all here to have fun discussing the hobby we all love for fucksake. Why can't people just be nice, and if you can't at least do that, keep your mouth shut and move on?

Haha. Yeah, for sure it reminded me of a Florida town. Not the kind of casual Florida town you'd like to go to, like Santa Rosa Island, or St. Petersburg Beach, but more like the run down portion of Panama City Beach. You know, the kind where you see crack hookers 'casually' walking the streets. Or the 'casual' dope deal I witnessed in Thirsty Pony's parking lot. Or the row of 'casual' heroin den looking hotels. No palm trees, though.

Ya know, I have a conspiracy theory of my own...
-
^ Tin Foil Hat time! That remark wasn't to you by the way but there IS this conspiracy theory around that there is a cure for cancer going around. About how the Big Guys are hiding it away from the general public so the insurance companies can still make their money. So they are saying these people rather have their money then save lives and how they dont care if you loosed loved ones and are in mourning. My dad even believes in it! I just hope this isnt true because if it is there is some sick people running this world.....So back in their mind they would be like "Hey Kid I dont care if your grandma dies I just want my gold planted Bugatti!!" But in all honest I dont know if this is true or if its just another tin foil hat theory. Sorry I didnt mean to get dark but when I read that it made me think of that. It will be messed up if people who value money over human lives actually run our world...

Using simply the Pythagorean theorem isn't gonna be accurate to determine a possible lift height. A user over at PointBuzz had the most thorough assessment of ~200ft by using the proper method to calculate a potential height based on the variables we know... Here's the post outlining the calculations for any other engineering nerds like myself that are interested.

Trains wouldn't make any difference in the ride experience... if anything, better trains would make the experience worse by further highlighting the imperfections in the track and the fact that Ron Toomer could only design rides with straight lines and constant radius curves. Something I don't think most people want to feel anymore than they already do.
