RCS out here on the Left Coast is about as close to this as America can get. It's no German Fair, but it is clean, modern and has many "Spectaculars" on the midway.
What gets me is that all of these attractions are PORTABLE...from the Laser to that GIANT Ferris Wheel. Not enough train lines in the USA to transport that stuff everywhere!
The German Showman and the American Showman differ in many ways. In America, we have amusement companies. Which typically carry anywhere between 20 to 70 rides, plus games, food, shows. Depending on the show. Most American fairs hire the amusement company(s) to provide the midway. In Germany, Showman are independent. Every ride has a different owner. However some owners do own a couple but that's usually it. The German Showman only have to focus on one maybe two rides. All the money made goes to the maintenance, operation, payroll, etc to keep these rides running and looking good. For the American Showman, you're taking care of an entire show. Rides, Games, Food, etc. For an American Carnival to own big pieces like these, is almost impossible when you consider all the costs involved. Some outfits do carry big pieces, but most of them don't. We also have Independent Showmen who carry big rides too. Space Roller, Magnum, Techno Power are independently owned.
RCS is a great show, I get to see them a lot. Some of their pieces are independently owned. Tango, Evolution, Mega Drop and few others are owned by Bishop Amusements who travels with RCS.
Actually most of the German rides transport by truck. The weight rules are much different there than here in the States. Almost every ride in those photos are too heavy for the American Highway.
Great photos. I truly miss Germany. I've been there a couple times during the fair season. Lots of fun. I highly recommend everyone to go there at least once. Sorry to get off topic a bit.
