  1. When you were at SFSTL, how come ya'll didn't stay for the Glow in the Park Parade that night??? It was awesome! City Museum is cool, so much fun and so hard to explain to folks from out of town. GREAT photo TR.
  2. Does anyone know where I can download the music/lyrics to this parade? My friend is desperately trying to find it, and Google is no help. Thank you
  3. Per SFNEonline.com and Screamscape, the parade is confirmed not happening in 2009. . . does this mean the floats are going to TX and STL parks??? Like a roller coaster ride, the 2008 season was a season of ups and downs. Six Flags New England visitors were excited with anticipation of a new roller coaster and then disappointed when it was announced the project has been cancelled. Facing a potential crisis situation park management went into damage control and initially offered season pass refunds along with an apology to upset guests. After accessing the situation and working with corporate officials, Six Flags New England park management led by Park President Larry Litton were able to come up with a wonderful new attraction for the park. A float from the parade. The Glow in the Park Parade was essentially the savior of the 2008 season. There was a lot riding on The Dark Knight Coaster. Six Flags spent plenty of advertising dollars marketing the new attraction and had high hopes it would keep attendance strong during a time where many Americans were having trouble in a failing economy. With the potential of having nothing new to bring in guests, Six Flags New England turned to park officials at Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Mexico for help. Both parks were preparing a new attraction called Glow in the Park Parade. Six Flags New England officials liked the idea however had little time to prepare for it. Glow in the Park required the construction of floats, hiring and training of parade characters and the instillation of an audio system for the parade. Both Six Flags Mexico and Great Adventure had months to prepare for a Memorial Day Weekend debut and Six Flags New England was yet to get started and it was already well into April. It was nothing short of a miracle that Glow in the Park Parade debuted for the first time at Six Flags New England during the busy 4th of July weekend. Parade route sings which were put up closer to the debut of the parade. There was plenty of advertisement for the only NEW attraction of 2008. To be honest we didn’t quite know how Glow in the Park would turn out at Six Flags New England. After seeing the show in New Jersey there was no doubt that it was impressive but in New England there was almost no preparation time for the extravagant floats. Before I saw the show at Six Flags New England for the first time I was expecting a shortened or express version of the parade. I didn’t have high expectations and was confident with my assumption, and then I saw the show. As darkness set in park guests lined the parade route in anticipation and stared in awe when they got their first glimpse of the floats. The parade was very well done, had a lot of floats, and was almost a mirror image of the parade at Great Adventure. As I looked around at all the people watching, it was clear that Six Flags New England had a real winner on their hands. You can imagine the look on my face when I found out that Six Flags had decided NOT to bring back Glow in the Park in 2009. Park officials have stated that while successful in its inaugural season, the parade was not coming back but they hope to bring it back in 2010. It’s not clear who made this decision or why it was made however it seems like a step in the wrong direction for the park. Glow in the Park did take quite a bit of money out of the parks budget but it all seemed worth it with the attendance and turn out of park guests. All of the hard work is already done, the floats are sitting on site, the parade route is already in place and I’am sure that many of the character staff would gladly return to do the show again. To me it just doesn’t make sense that the show is being cancelled in New England but expanded to Six Flags parks in Texas and Missouri. Six Flags New England has announced plenty of 2009 projects such as the Superman Transformation, a new slingshot attraction called The Blitz, and even a new show called Show Stoppin. Now even if Six Flags New England had these plans in place before Glow in the Park was on the table last season I’m sure that they could have found a way to incorporate it in 2009. Even if running the parade daily isn’t an option there are some alternatives. Why not run the parade only on Friday and Saturday nights during the summer? If that is too much then perhaps run the parade during select events and dates such as Memorial Day weekend and 4th of July weekend. If park officials would like to bring back the parade in 2010 don’t give up the fight for it this season. It’s a wonderful addition to the park and complements it nicely. It’s a great way to close out a long summer day and it will be missed by many. -Jim SFNE Online Founder / Webmaster
  4. Very exciting news!! The addition to the harbor is definitely needed, and to celebrate the 10th anniversary with a cool new attraction is great! I've seen video of the Glow parade, and this will be so fun to have in STL. Cannot wait for the 2009 season, and we will definitely get season passes!
