  1.

I appreciate the ambition of the new area, but I think Kennywood should have its own identity of thrills, flowers, and carousel music -- there's already a whole North Shore area of the city that exists to glorify football and tailgate parties. The NFL partnership might have business upside, but given the league's national PR issues and some Steelers players having their own PR battles over the years, I wouldn't decide to so overtly tie the park to the league.

This. All of this. I think the ride looks great though. The ride, name and color scheme are enough.

  2. I really hope there is substance to this. KW's silence on the future of the Log Jammer site is a intriguing but a little unnerving. If 2019 is the earliest that a new roller coaster (or any replacement for the LJ) can open there, I hope, at the very least, that the site looks good and is well landscaped. However, I'm open to the idea of the park surprising us all (slightly) by renting a ride for that site just for one season.

  3. On the 2008 East Coast Tour, I was one of two on El Toro for a couple of rounds shortly after ERT on it ended. Kingda Ka opened and everyone else in the TPR group rushed over to get the credit. I didn't know at the time why they suddenly left, but I knew ERT on El Toro was over, so my riding partner and I took a few more laps on El Toro before the public flooded it. There used to be a photo of us on it here, somewhere.

  4. Thanks Adam! Sounds interesting, but I hope that small entrance fee is really, REALLY small since the activities usually associated with a visit to Kennywood will be severely limited by the cold weather, and I'm sure people will find a way to feel disappointed or even complain about this. It would still be awesome to see the park decked out in Christmas lights.

  5. I've no idea, but I'm torn between going on Saturday because of the longer hours of operation, or going on Mother's Day just to get my nephew in for $10. I can't imagine that it would be very busy just because it's Mother's Day, in fact I'm inclined to believe that the park isn't expecting much business that day and that's why they designated it a Bring a Buddy day to boost the crowds.
