The BEST roller coaster view EVER???
GreeNeons03 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love that view from Hair Raiser. That coaster look's awesome too, can't wait to see the POV and hopefully ride it someday. -
I use Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus It's easy to use and works really well. But I would recommend getting a bump in memory for editing HD footage, if you don't have much. I have footage from a family trip I took up north and I tried editing some of it on my laptop while I was there and my laptop locked up. I tried it on my desktop when I got home (which has more memory than my laptop) and I could edit everything fine. -Norm

I understand what you mean. Thats why I would invest in a small camcorder and a nice pair of cargo pants (or shorts if it's summer). The camera I used to use was a Sony DCR-PC109. Thats the one I used to film my Deja Vu video. It's a nice little camera, It takes great video and it's small and fits easily in a cargo pocket. My new (and current) camera is a Sony HDR-CX7. It's a great camera. It films full HD 1080 video. And it's small and compact and easily fits in a cargo pocket.

Well I decided to give my $0.02 on all the entries that have made the cut. This is just my critique. Please don’t take offence to anything I say. Round 1 Barry Hom's Alton Towers Video First off, personally, I hated the song. I made a bad impression on me, so bad that I would find my self unconsciously singing it at work. It also made the video feel like it was dragging along. Other than that, it was good. The video was cut well with the music. Though stalking Elissa, as everyone else said, was getting old near the end. Darren Bailey's TPR Midwest Trip I liked the video, it had some really funny parts to it. I think the song you picked also fit in very well. Your editing was good but you need to turn down the music when people are speaking. I found it difficult to understand what they said. Kevin Aglione's Cedar Point I though this video was well put together. I was a little disappointed to not see House come out at the beginning and say that the disease was autoimmune. Just kidding. I liked how everything was slow for the first half but I think your should have made it all black and white. Then your transition to the second half was great. Though I didn’t care much for the song, you cut the video to it very well. Dave Thomas' UK Randomness I though the video was fun and funny. I liked the “I’m a tree! With a camera!” I found that very funny for some reason. The commercial in the middle was a funny touch but it really broke the flow of the video. I would have stuck that at the end. Pam & Brian Kanal's Knoebel's PPP Sorry, but I found this slow and kind of boring. If the song was a little faster it would have probably made a difference. Also the editing really didn’t match the song. There where random cuts all over the place. Round 2 Cody Kempema's Tatsu The video was nice but it felt a little too long. The pace was very slow and it felt like you showed the same thing over and over and over and over and over…. It felt like you stayed on the pretzel loop for 20 mins. I did like the 4 or 5 quick cuts you did with the music though. Matthew Tentnowski's Six Flags Great Adventure I didn’t think this one was that great. The music was too loud and because of that I could hear or understand what anyone said. Also, I found the editing to be horrible. It just seemed like your let the editing program sort the clips out for you and your just through is a music track. Sorry. Ryan Vesely's Disneyland2 This was a good video. I liked the effect at the beginning with the trail thing. The pacing was good too. The editing was also good, it went well with the music but I think you might have stayed on some things a little too long, like the creepy guy in the black hoodie. JimmyBo's PortAventura I very much enjoyed this video. I liked the song, and your editing to the song was impeccable. You also combined stills with the video very well. The audio balance was great too, I could under stand everything that was said, including when you said “mierda” on the stopped coaster. I found that to be really funny too, but that may be just because I understand Spanish. Justin Saxe's Dollywood/Six Flags Over Georgia Another video I enjoyed. And another I feel had excellent synchronization with the song. This one also had an excellent balance with the audio. I also found the end funny, “Kiddy coaster...whores” and for some reason this video made me hungry. Round 3 Peter Davies' Camping & Coasters This video was pretty good. I think some of the shots could have been executed a little better, such as having the subject (the coaster) centered. With the “All of this can be yours” or how ever it goes, part I would have shown different images and video from around the park(s), not just the overview of a lake. Also the timing with the “yeah” at the end was off. But other than that it was pretty good. I really liked that graphic at the end too with the coaster going through the tent. One thing I didn’t get though what the thing after that. Just sounded like a laugh and a fart to me. Adam Roth's Theme Park Entry 2006 First off, I don’t know if that’s how you filmed it or if that just how it’s displayed, but to me this video seemed like it was filmed on a digital still camera. The editing was good but I found the pacing slow, so it felt long and drawn out. And for some reason the music at the opening and ending credits reminded me of Super Mario Sunshine. Matt Jacobs' Indiana Beach Again, I don’t know if that’s how you filmed it or if that just how it’s displayed, but to me this video seemed like it was filmed on a digital still camera. I found some of the shots to be kind of boring and uneventful. Also, I think the transitions where a little overused. A simple wipe or fade will do just fine in most cases. Jordan Ryle's Disneyland Uhh, I didn’t get most of it. I just couldn’t grasp what was going on. The whole West Side Story snapping thing went completely over my head. The editing wasn’t all that great either. I think this could have turned out a little better if I could understand the inside jokes. Jan Andreen's Europa Park First, I think the song choice was not the best. Honestly, I don’t see coasters and theme park stuff fitting with that song at all. That having been said, the footage was pretty good but I feel the audio balance and the editing could have been executed a little better. Round 4 Bruno Lancetti's Expedition GeForce I felt this video was very uneventful and extremely repetitive. I don’t know how many times you showed the first drop one after the other in a row. It was also a very slow moving video in my opinion. And the music was kind of weird. It started off porno then went Incredible Hulk like towards the end. I did like some of the effects, though, that you threw in at the end, like the old film style effect. Kevin Gillan's "Opening Segment" Wow! I really don’t know what to say other than I want to see more. It was a good mix of footage. And the dancing security guard was very funny. Good Job with this one, I really enjoyed it. Nicolas Chavance's Parc Asterix This was another video I enjoyed. The editing was great. I thought the speech bubbles were cool, even though I couldn’t understand what they said. I thought the thing with the tunnel, looking forward going in then back coming out, was really cool. Chris Charles' PortAventura Halloween This was a nice video. It had a good combination of stills mixed with the video. Some of your effects were great. I especially liked the trails behind Dragon Kahn. The footage of the fountain with the colors changing in the background was a little long though in my opinion. And to top it all off, the soundtrack fit well with the theme. Halloween event, Halloween song, Whoda thunk it! Dave Madore & Tomi Zandshtein's TPR Midwest Trip This was a pretty good video. It had some nice editing though it was had to hear some of the stuff said. I found it to have a large element of fun in it. One thing that really bugged me was that you were just about to say something on the shot of Top Gun and you cut it off. I didn’t get the little animation at the end and I would have gone with e completely different song. Round 5 Andy Korb's Parc Asterix This was a good video. The editing was well played and I liked how almost every time the song mentioned cartoons your showed cartoon characters or costume characters. It felt a little long and drawn out though, but it had a good pace. WillMontu's "Wetness" I liked the little intro at the beginning for the different types of wetness, but the main video was a little long. The song made it seem longer than it really was. Plus you cut near the end with the music was a little off beat. I liked the “This is an unacceptable amount of wetness” part when you showed everyone saying it while they here soaked. Sorry to hear about your camera too dude. Matthew Hicks' Drayton Manor I enjoyed this video. The editing was really good and went well with the music. There where a couple of times were I think a fad would have been appropriate rather than a quick cut to the next clip. I liked how you pointed yourselves out on the rides but my favorite park was the slow motion switch from black and white to color, that was cool. Norman Snook's Déjà vu (My own video) The only thing I have to say about mine with the twin spike thing. I got a tripod for next time I try something like that. Mark Owens' Hong Kong Disneyland This was a well executed video. Your timing with the music was perfect. Even some of the clips you showed went well with what was going on or being said in the song. The only thing was when you where showing the Tarzan stuff and the music was kind of slow I would have used some fades between clips. Good job. Round 5 Jeremy Kohrs' Hoodie: The Movie This was very original. It was a really good concept, reminded me of The Matrix in a way, but I think the editing was a little poor. The sound quality was pretty bad too. I couldn’t under stand what was being said most of the time. The IM’s where kind of hard to read to, some of them went by too fast. I though when the guys where screaming in front of their computers like they where on a coaster and the one guy disappeared from the ride was pretty funny, but I was expecting the sister to put the hoodie on when she took it off. Erik Johnson's Dollywood I’m sorry, but this has to be one of the most boring videos I have ever watched. The songs just made it seem to last forever. The editing was good, but the music, that was the failing point. It was better when I watched it the second time…on mute. Sorry dude. Tom Mueller's Heide Park This was a good video. You followed your cuts with the song perfectly and I could tell there was a large element of fun. I liked your editing style too Frederic Molitor's Weekend Airtime This was a pretty good video. The cuts with the music were good and the editing was nice but the song made the pacing feel a little slow, though it did finish a little quicker that I expected. Jon LoCoco's Cedar Point This video was good. The pacing was great. The editing was a little off. Some of the cuts between clips with the music were a little off and some clips had too much lead in or out. Other than that is was pretty good. Like I said earlier, this is just my two cents. Please don’t take offence to anything I say. I’m just saying what I thought and what I would do to make some things a little different. All of them had their ups and downs (no pun intended, ok, maybe it was a little), some more that others, but some people maybe just starting out with video editing. If you are then with some practice you’ll just keep getting better and better. Just make sure to have people watch your videos and get their opinion so you know what to do differently on the new ones you make. -Norm
