  1. I was skeptical of another JR myself, but as has been said, if it works, why not? It's not like the park has much to offer in terms of food on its own anyway. I doubt it will be full-service, though. As for the Coldstone, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the one replacing Plaza Ice Cream will be a full service store (the space is big enough) while the Limited remains open in the back. The Limited is the only reason that corner of the park is still open at the moment because it does so well.
  2. For what it's worth... Plaza Ice Cream is now closed and will become a Coldstone. Shooting Gallery in Psyclone Bay is closed and will become part of the Terminator entrance. Coaster Girls will become a Terminator shop. Surfside Grill (The one with the giant Hot Dog) is now closed and will become yet another Johnny Rocket's location.
  3. The private event has sold over 20,000 tickets. For reference, the park had around 10,000 this past Saturday. They would much rather take the guaranteed attendance of 20,000 and piss off a few people who didn't know better than have a normal operating day with half of that.
  4. Anyone else notice that the Goliath Jr. sign is STILL there? Stuff like that gets overlooked when you throw stuff together at (literally) the last minute. Still, I'm amazed at how good it does look considering that most of what you see was put up within 3 days.
  5. Agreed. Not that having the new trains is a bad thing, but it's certainly going to be a stretch to claim that it has "all-new, innovative state-of-the-art visual, audio and sensory effects." However, if there's anyone who can spin it the right way, it's Jay Thomas.
  6. Okay, so I'll start by off by saying that I am probably taking this personally, considering I am one of the Stage Managers of the Batman Begins Stunt Show. Me speaking as an employee: SO... Before calling this "Lame", why don't you take a minute and think about why we are not updating the show this year: The show always opens as close to Memorial Day weekend as possible. The first year of Batman Begins, the show opened on June 24th. That was about a month of the show that was lost because they held the opening day until after the movie premier. So, the show only ran for 4.25 months. Me speaking as a TPR member: Dark Knight the movie opens July 18th. So IF the new show was to be Dark Knight, (which nothing has been announced as to what the new show will be), it would only run for 3.5 months. THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA, THEY SHOULD HAVE A SHORTER SHOW RUN! And it costs a TON of money to install a new set. The last Batman show played for 9 years, and the one before that was 12 years. They are crazy enough for using this show for only 4 years. I think you can wait another year. Enjoy the new movie, and then next season you can see the show. Read the post. It was a criticism of Warner Bros. for not taking advantage of a marketing opportunity. The entertainment crew does a great job of putting on that show, no question. Nowhere did I call the current show lame, in fact, it has to be one of the better productions you can find at a Theme Park. There's no blame on Six Flags here, they're simply working with what Warner is willing to give them. I'm simply saying I wish Warner would give them more. I just think in this age of media and advertising and short attention spans, it wouldn't hurt to have thousands of people reminded that there's a new movie coming out. Yea, it's expensive, but if you sell the idea to Warner correctly, they'd be all over having thousands of people having their movie franchise hammered into their heads.[/b]
  7. As I get more and more geeked out for The Dark Knight, I wish someone at Warner Bros. would get on the phone with SFMM and have a discussion about pulling Gotham City and B:TR out of the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher theming. It wouldn't take much, a few bucks from Warner Bros. to replace some facades and logos would be a cool way to market the new (and much improved) Batman franchise to a relatively captive audience. Theming one of the flats to Arkham Asylum is one idea. Let's get a replica of the Tumbler out where the Batmobile used to be. Have the "League of Shadows" give some kung-fu demonstrations. But it won't happen, because its a good idea. They're not even updating the stunt show this year. Lame.
  8. Deja Vu valleyed between the loop and second lift just before park closing yesterday.
  9. ^ Wait a few weeks until HR realizes that nobody over 18 wants to work at a theme park for minimum wage. It may a bit different this year with the current state of the economy, but that's how it's been the past few years.
  10. ^ Sorry for that. I mean the road construction going on at the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road. So far anyway, it's an absolute mess and has caused several (albeit minor) accidents. The worst part is that the work seems to be picking up speed just as the park is getting ready to open full time for the season. Just a reminder to anyone coming from the south any time soon, the off-ramp at Magic Mountain Parkway has been re-routed, so make sure to pay special attention to the detour, and exercise caution as confusion and poor lane marking are still causing problems.
  11. All I saw was a train of somesort cyclying the ride from the stoplight on Magic Mountain Parkway at Tourney Rd. I wish I could report more, but the construction at the intersection of the Old Rd made it impossible to get up close. I have a feeling that project is going to be a thorn in the side of the park's best efforts this season.
  12. As of about 1:25 this afternoon, X2 was testing, as visible from Magic Mountain Parkway.
