  1. Sara, yes by all means read the books... sure the first 3 or so are when they are becoming teenagers... those are great but I think they got a whole lot better toward the end. I used to work at the LSU Bookstore on campus and I used to make fun of the Harry Potter "freaks".... until one of my coworkers jumped me and told me I needed to read them before I bashed(well I was just teasing) them. So I did... and I was amazed at how good they were... actually my 40 y/o sister was reading them too... which I found out later and she loved them too... so long story short... YES... Go read them! Go NOW! lol

  2. Yes I totally agree with you guys: Dollywood is INCREDIBLE! I have yet to find more friendly staff anywhere and they really are happy you are there. Even Disney could learn a few things from that park. That says so much. I think they are truly proud of "their" park. I think Six Flags needs to give THEIR staff something to be proud of and then I think the customer service would improve a bit. You have to be truly proud of your product in order to be motivated to sell it and want to improve customer relations. Also, I think the older staff set a great example for the younger members of the crew. Instead of just the older members being in supervisory positions, they are actually working right alongside the younger members. I think that helps a lot. But also the fact that more mature people would even want to be in those positions says a lot about the park.

  3. Yes I must also tell you guys what an awesome job that video was. I enjoyed it from the minute it started playing. We don't see opening credits like that much. Very original. Also, the detail in all the TPR things...very cool. Even they font you guys used in your instant messaging was the "Theme Park Review" banner fonts. Made me laugh. Nice work!

  4. Dang, I LOVED the flooded mine, its such a shame they made it Daredevil Falls. I mean DF is a cool ride and all but it doesn't compare to the nostalgic value which was FM. I really enjoyed the ride. If anyone has any more pictures of it, please post them. Oh and thanks for all the information about what the pictures were of. When I was there for the first time in a while 2 years ago, I was looking all over for the FM. I didn't realize it was gone. Grrrr. But I was wondering what all the flooded mine business was up in that cave.

    Thanks for the info,

    Nick C

  5. Yeah I remember when it was all slated to be built by Ogden entertainment or whatever. I was pumped...then I heard it was to be built in N.O. East and I was like "why"???? Yay lets build a park out in the swamp with no natural shade or atmosphere. What were they thinking? Anyway, I'm not surprised at all and I hope it all works out for both the city and SF. I had bought a couple passes for my nieces, nephews and I the year before it closed and we never even went. I did it mainly to give them a little support. Honestly though I had no desire to go and BAKE out on a concrete slab in the middle of a swamp. I do however support Blue Bayou/ Dixie Landing though. Its actually a pretty decent water park and if you guys are ever in Baton Rouge you should check it out.

  6. Hmmm. Well AED's only help if someone is having some type of lethal heart arrhythmia which can be converted and if its not of that origin then its not going to help: like a brain aneurysm bursting or such. You CAN use an AED if you don't know CPR but if someone is in respiratory arrest or it tells you to "continue CPR" then you are not gonna be doing too much good. Not only that but you only have a few precious minutes to get all that underway and if it was an aneurysm or some type of internal bleeding then its all very quick usually. Yea I don't blame Disney in the least nor the parents. That's reallly a shame for both parties. Ugh, I hate hearing about these types of things. But really, something else had to be wrong. If the ride was working properly then the child must have had something else going on. Most 12 year old hearts are usually in pretty good shape.

Nick "we'll know soon enough" C

  7. About the AED. They probably didn't have one because I don't think every employee hired at Disney has to be CPR certified so they most likely wouldn't know how to use one anyway, although it really doesn't take a genius to operate one as most all of them talk to you and walk you through every step. I am sure they have them with Emergency Services. AED's are quite common and very small and it being DISNEY they probably have many. lol. Plus, you have to know CPR to use one.

  8. Ok WOW! It's late and my friend and I just got back into Baton Rouge having spent the entire day at SFOG. Goliath is freaking incredible. Believe it about the insane hairtime...delivered superb ejector air. It's one of those rides you CANNOT get enough of. Front, back, or middle, it doesn't matter where you sit, IT DELIVERS. Ok enough, it was a beautiful day and we had a blast. We finally got the Deja Vu credit. UGH, that thing was horrible. We have a new favorite park.

    Nick"GO ride Goliath!" C.

  9. Wow. I must say that any park I go to that has a 1st Gen. Free Fall tower is 'ok' by me. I absolutely LOVE those rides. From the extremely fast lift through the structure to the extremely quick drop. Personally, I find that these rides drop faster than the new type towers. I rarely lose my stomach on the new towers, however every time I ride the 1st Gen. towers my eyes are watering at the bottom. Anyways, awesome for them, I'm glad to see one being put back up then all the ones coming down.

  10. This past October a couple of friends and I went to the Harvest Celebration/Festival at Dollywood. We Rode Thunderhead 8 times in a row. It was morning time and they were running 2 trains and I guess they wanted full trains. They were actually encouraging re-rides. And quite happily I might add. After our 8th circuit we were leaving to go explore the rest of the park and they were literally BEGGING us to stay and keep riding. It was a lot of fun actually. They were very friendly; laughing and joking with all of us. We thought it might be a fluke but when we got to Tennessee Tornado we experienced the exact same thing. The friendliness of the staff is what keeps me going back to that park year after year...and the amazing atmosphere of course. Two thumbs up for Dollywood... woot woot!

  11. Hey KingDanny! Well unfortunately Ninja CAN be rough although I have found that sitting in the last car of the train; 1st seat. Smooth as pie. Head will still bash an OTSR occasionally...but in my experience that was the best place. Hope that helps!

Nick "thinks Ninja is one of the better head bangers" C

  12. Yeah both the SLC and Batman were/are extremely brutal. Put it this way, ANY coaster that has instructions to REMOVE earrings before riding is a no brainer (no pun intended) that its going to beat the H*** out of you!

Anyway...as I was driving to work this afternoon, about 5 PM CST, I noticed an 18 wheeler in front of me that I passed that had 2 pieces of yellow roller coaster track. I freaked. It appeared to be B&M looking track. And I'm thinking it was Batman: The Escape track (I know its not a B&M but the track is similar) being moved from Houston. Actually I'm fairly sure because it was the exact color of it and there's NO other parks near here that have coasters...lol. This was spotted on I-12 between Baton Rouge, LA and Hammond, LA (I work in Hammond). Anyway, I thought it was darn cool actually as it is an extreme rarity to see something like this in these parts.

  13. Yeah I had a similar experience to what nannerdw said. We went on the one at Splashtown in Houston...Big Spin. It was one of the body slides. I didn't know any better so I arched my back and rode on one heel and I flew out of the chute and into the bowl and I went so high up onto the side of the bowl where there was hardly any water (dry area) that I started skidding/bouncing and all the people watching were cheering but my back was TORE UP. Not to mention I was already sunburned... Needless to say that slowed me down quite a bit... It was fun just to hear the peeps cheer...but I doubt I would ride it like that again.

  14. Yeah I must say...when I was in about 3rd or 4th grade I was reading the Guiness Book of World Records and I saw Beast and I thought that was the coolest thing ever! Then when I was on my way to college in Ohio I begged my parents to stop at PKI and finally got to ride it. Yeah I guess its overrated but when you have waited as long as I did to finally get to ride it... I thought it was awesome and well worth the begging. You won't be disappointed. It was a lot of fun. The double helix at the end kicked BUTT!

As of now I would really like to ride Sheikra and all the Florida ones. I just need to get my butt down there... good luck!

  15. Well boys and girls... gather round....its time for a story. HA! Well, I am VERY new to posting. Actually I'm kinda shy, however I've read the rules and have been viewing these boards for quite a while. LOL. Anyway I'm kind of embarrassed to tell this story because its pretty lame BUT I think its funny. Several years ago there was the Thrills Chills and Spills show that came on the Discovery Channel (I know you all know the ones I'm speaking of) and I would record all of them on VHS (I'm a loser)! Ha... and I saw the one where Elissa and that guy who was kind of scared of everything rode the coasters at Knotts and at SFMM... thought that show was great and I thought that girl (Elissa) was a cool chick! When I would get bored I would watch those occasionally. Anyways... I think Elissa is the bomb. And Robb is the 'dot com.' So then some kind of way (not even sure how I found this site) I ended up here. And when I saw Elissa on it...I thought to myself "wow...she looks really familiar." LOL And well, the rest is history. This site is actually my home page and I am here everyday. I work nights so this site tends to really pass the time. But alas... I really appreciate all the time and work that you guys have put into this incredible place that IS TPR. The videos are top of the line and the boards are a kick to read!

You guys rock! Keep it up! And thank you!

  16. Wow...I have to chime in on this one. Dollywood is GREAT! It was either that or the fact that I had been to too many Six Flags parks recently with horrible customer service. I had forgotten what awesome customer service was about. I went back in October and the ride ops were friggin awesome. I rode TH about 10 times in a row and then I had to get off because I had some friends who wouldn't ride that were waiting for me... as I was leaving, the ride ops were begging me to stay. Just the nicest bunch of people. Even on TT... which was extremely smooth on my visit. Couldn't believe it but very relieved...it was a reride for me. The ride ops were having fun and teasing people. It all threw me off guard which was great. Six Flags really needs to take a lesson from ole Dolly.
