  1. If what I heard today is true it will definitely be worth the trip for you in 09. Keep in mind they said at this point this is only speculation or rumor. They told me they plan to clone the thunderbird :.http://www.rcdb.com/id2955.htm If this is true this will be an awesome park.I just hope they make it full size.by where he showed me the entrance and the way it would wrap around the lake it seems possible
  2. There was a sign outside the park today making more excuses about why the condor and log flume are not finished yet. This time its the weather and not parts held up in customs. It also warns that since the rides are NEW they may be down for technical adjustment.I t also promises a 200' drop tower in 2008 and the coaster in 09.I wonder if they will be like the 50'log ride(not) or the 75'ferris wheel which might be 75' but I doubt it. I guess the only good thing is that its still better than allstar adventures , which has 14 rides for the same price.
  3. Are you sure about the price break Flaco? I couldnt find anything on the website.
  4. The condition they brought the park back from the first time was less than suitable , they wont give up. When I drove by last sunday everything looked ok. they definitely need to provide better security. At least Michael had someone keeping an eye on the park. Maybe the Nelsons dont care anymore.
  5. There you go again talking without knowing all the facts.First of all the back and forth is getting old , so this is the last I'll say in all this.any further comments from me will be about the park(updates , hope for future etc). Michael and Robert are not corrupt! The parties gave another avenue for the park.My wife and I could take the kids during the day and enjoy the park at night as adults. The noise complaints were unfounded and unmeasured. The first few nights we drove around and could barely hear the noise.Highway on the west side school on the north , street and empty field on the west. The houses are across the canal and there is a lot of evergreen trees wich dampen the sound. You would have to be out in your yard trying really hard to hear it.Then theres the fact that he offered to move the parties inside but wasn't allowed to because the old skating rink isn't "zoned properly".So they have a 70000 sqr ft warehouse. They put more life into Joyland than anyone has in the past years!
  6. It seems that most of the repairs took place underDavid Rohr and then Michael and Robert.I wonder why the Nelsons let it go downhill. Does anyone know why the swimming pool was closed?
  7. Oh ye of little faith. Joyland will rise again. The rides are being dismantled and stored on site , basically closing up the park. The coaster ran last year.the only reason the inspector failed it was because he hoped to get the repair work!Joyland would be in much better shape if the Nelsons would have put money into it.Instead they have been running it into the ground since around 1960. I too went to Wild West World and can honestly say that it will never have the same appeal as Joyland. The atmosphere and feel of the park will never come close. They are different entities.Joyland offers a glimpse into the past history of themeparks. support Joyland at www.explorer7004.com
  8. Its vital that the citizens speak out , but its equally important for coaster enthusiast's to call also.It will give them a better understanding of the reach of their actions. It might also give them an understanding of the value of the parks rollercoaster and other classic rides.
  9. They were only going to put in the strip mall not demo the park. That would allow for financing and make it profitable year round. it would have only been the front portion wich is only trees sign and entryway.
  10. I wont have a chance to stop and take pics.please post if you get any pics.
  11. Either someone has there eye on the land or they expect a long court battle. that would be the only reason to move the rides to storage.
  12. The reason they didnt pay was to leverage for a rezone to get financing. They are not out of the running yet. Check out the updates at www.explorer7004.com to see why they actually took possesion.
  13. Ive talked with them since the beginning when I did all the work to restore the old shoe.Keep up the support everyone , as it looks like a save Joyland instead of support it now. The article in todays eagle said the Nelsons are moving the rides into storage. I wonder who has there eye on the land?
  14. no but Ill ask next time and see how bad the damage was.Anyway I think Michael still has a fighting chance. Think what he could do for the park without restrictions or the city on his back. the biggest thing they accomplished last year was to keep out the thugs and gang bangers. They really cleaned up the image of the park and made it into a safe family friendly environment.no more drugs being dealt in the pavilion area or fights. Last year there were no instances of violence at the park. The last easter the park was open there was a shooting and stabbing! Under the new management : no incidents! I hope they get the chance to continue on the positive path they were on.
  15. Look at the updates on my website and it will be a little more clear. I dont Think Michael and Robert are out of the running yet.
  16. I dont think its over yet .This is just the nelsons latest stab at god knows what.I dont think they have a real game plan. The park was closed once before By the nelsons and opened again. so I still have hope.
  17. Another bad turn for Joyland. I stopped by the park today and the locks were changed and this wa son the fence. I couldnt figure out how to post a pic or I would have included the original. not sure how this happened , last time I talked with Michael they were paid ahead on the rent. 18. Just finished with my 3rd and hopefully final update to the support Joyland website. needed more bandwidth. The response has been awesome. Please check out the new website and send to anyone in the Wichita area. support Joyland at: www.explorer7004.com
  19. Joyland is a great park on the way back from years of neglect.,not a crappy park.If the city would have helped instead of hindered it could be even better now.
  20. Thanks snuggles , yes I took the overview from the paratrooper. Maybe your right Calvin , but if you really enjoy your homepark and its having trouble you do what you can to help.
  21. just got our season passes. Got to look down the mainstreet. All the rides look complete except the log ride.none of the walkways around the rides or on the mainstreet are done.I wonder how long It takes to put in concrete. hopefully they get done before the 5th

  23. Thanks those are some good pics of the rides. I couldn't find the height of the log flume and ferris wheel speed of the coaster etc.does anyone know where I could find those? They have stuff like that on themmeparksonline but they dont have a listing for wild west world yet.
  24. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at the former Wild West World, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in.
