From one of the POV's we shot during media day you can definitely see a fair bit of new grass and trees coming in. I feel that over the next year or two the views on this ride will add even more to the experience. Like you said, it's BGW so they are gonna do it right when it comes to landscaping.
-
Family coaster or not, after riding it three times this morning during the media event BGW defintily has a winner on their hands.
The pacing, airtime, layout and pretty much everything about this coaster is spot on. I went into it thinking "if this is half as good as White Lightning I'll be happy". Well, I am WAY more than happy and ultimately prefer InvadR over White Lightning. Both are great but I just think I like the layout a little better.
-
Super excited for this. Last years AHS house was among the best I've been through during my years at HHN and I don't think this will be any less spectacular.
-
^Truly the best way to experience the park. BGW is still one of the only parks I could go to, not ride a single thing and still have a full day of being entertained.
-
Thinking about the Roller Coaster Insider Tour - any recommendations for this?
Only my second time going to BGW - and figured Saturday, April 15 will be rather crowded. And it's only $15 more than Quick Queue Unlimited that day.
I saw that you get a "special pass" to use afterward - is this just a Quick Queue Limited?
Fingers crossed that InvadR will also be included (but not expecting it).
Speaking from someone who has done this tour, I would highly recommend it. Getting to go up the lift of Griffon alone was worth it for us.
The Quick Queue you get as part of this tour is a one time use quick queue. With InvadR opening this year I am curious to know if they add any sort of tour of that to it. There is video of our tour online but I am unable to post it here.

I know they had some issues with their FB Live video and I think they ended up removing it but, if you want to watch the entire presentation by Park President David Cromwell, here it is!
-
When do they allow you to take the Stein home? I'm about 5 hours away and I plan on coming for the Halloween event but might not be back after that.
I am not sure. The customer service rep just said at the end of the season.
-
Depending on the usual cost of the drafts if I was a regular/local it might be a pretty sweet deal to me.
They draft's in Brauhaus were $8.49+tax last season.
-
^Me too but haven't gotten the email myself yet sadly so was hoping to actually see it.
Either way, I've signed up as I loved this idea last year but wasn't able to partake in it. Now I'll have my own stein waiting for me everytime i visit the park! Yes the cost is a bit high but I feel it's a great value to be able to keep it at the end of the year!
Doesn't mention here so it seems to be conflicting
-
Anyone know if you get to keep the stein at the end of the season? I believe you do but want to confirm.
Update: I called and did confirm you get to keep it at the end of the season.
Could you post the email where it mentions free refill each visit? Called them and they said different but, being that it's kind of new they may not know all the details yet.

For those that haven't seen the video here it is.

Sorry for the double post

They are really moving with both Hersheys Triple Tower and Chick-Fil-A construction. If you want to see some video of it feel free to check out our video report from the day after Christmas. I for one love the idea of the Triple Tower and think it'll be a great addition.

Great video! It looks like a great event, I just wish they'd run more coasters.
The event is pretty epic for sure. I agree, I wish they could run more coasters however we totally understand the reasons they don't.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Jen and I are branching off on our own now after a couple other runs so support like yours is great!
-
We got to check out our first ever Christmas Town as part of the media night and figured I'd share our video here showing off the event.
As first timers there my wife and I absolutely loved it! The lights, the shows and of course the hot chocolate were all amazing!

Anyone know if Flying Turns shuts down during rain? I know the park is pretty lax on the other rides but not sure about FT or even Impulse for that matter.
Thanks for the help in advance

I bought that platinum food pass, from the site it says that the pass only works for really the meal combos, with a main and a fries. But lets say its 4 and I want to leave the park, but I have 1 of the meals left, and I feel like a corn dog on the way out. Can I do this? I would be using that meal credit on a 7$ item rather than a 14$ combo, would CW let me do that? It seems like it would be in their interest to allow to buy cheaper things.
Here is the list of options for the meal plan. If it's not on the list it's not an option.

Box office draw of 773.3 Million USD! That's pretty huge and critically it was very successful.
-
Evidently the park confirmed today that Hurler would be closed this season "for maintenance".
I sincerely hope this involves RMC and not another Ghostrider style project.
Maybe when it reopens it won't break two of my ribs like it did during the New Hotness trip back in 2012
-
Now this is a great addition! Too bad I won't make it to preview day to claim one of the 300
I was thinking the same thing. I am still a couple weeks out from the move to VA and am so mad I can't make this. Next year we will obtain our golden steins!
-
I still remember, like Ross mentioned, finding out before the Texas/Mid-America trip that the RMC's were going to be down cause of the woman falling out of the New Texas Giant how much it sucked but knew that my life would not end cause a couple rides were down. It happens.
A park doesn't owe you an explanation yet it still gave one. I get people booked hotels/airfare/etc, but at the end of the day you should NEVER expect things to be 100% opening weekend for new OR existing rides. "Buyer beware" is an expression that comes to mind.
Dollywood and the area is amazing and anyone still going will have an amazing time!
-
I personally cannot wait for this. Even with knowing little details it'll be nice to have a year round scary attraction at a park again.
Also, now that this will be a year round thing that means you won't see them do a stand alone maze as well during HHN so now those people who whine and moan about that can be satisfied.

We went to the park over the weekend for a quick visit and some notes:
- Wonder Woman still has a fair bit of work left and the pieces are all over the place
- The wait times for Mind Eraser with VR was insane. It was running 1 train and looked like only people in the back half of the train were wearing the helmets.
- The new Coaster Candy store up front is a nice addition
- So glad VR is off superman and dispatches were pretty good. There was only a line for the front row and the ride was a walk on
You can see all of that in our video recap of our visit here.
