CD Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hi again everyone, it's time for another WDW update! This time around I headed over to Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom since I didn't cover these areas in my previous Photo TR. This update will be relatively short and it may be my last as I will be working for the mouse in a few days and I will be very busy. Part 1: Downtown Disney As everyone knows DTD has really started to hit rock bottom. It's not in a poor condition or anything, there just really isn't much to do outside of the Marketplace area. The West Side is really empty (especially now that the Princess Diana thing was removed) and the low amount of crowds reflect that. Now, Pleasure Island... I can't believe that this area has been vaccant for so long without any type of improvement. I've heard the rumors of what's to come to the area and you can say I'm not impressed - at all. Please be more original! DTD really needs some unique things to attract guests. There really is no need for even more third party vendors! Please Disney! Anywho onto the pics: And finally Fulton's from Rainforest Cafe (I pulled a fast one on ya). Hope you enjoyed! Tomorrow: pictures of why I think Animal Kingdom is the most beautiful park I have ever been to. Largest Disney Store on the planet. A classic DTD photo op. Disney took Transformers from Universal too?! What will they take next? The Mummy? HRRRRRRRR? Say it isn't so... And now onto the section of DTD that looks great, Marketplace. Rainforest Cafe as seen from Fulton's. You can even take artsy pictures! Once again, it all looks nice. there's just nothing here. For all the AC fanboys. It's so lively up here! Now lets visit The Island Formely Known As Pleasure Island. I do like this, it adds a lot of atmosphere to the area and it gives people a reason to come to the West Side. The Characters In Flight Balloon was not operational due to high winds. It doesn't look bad, it's just boring... I wasn't lying when I said the west side of DTD was dead. There just really isn't much to do. Which is pretty sad considering this is the newest addition. What replaced the Princess Diana museum, you ask? Well... Some banners! Not my cup of tea, but arcades never really were my thing. All I had heard about this "interactive theme park" is that it is out-dated and in a fairly poor condition. Disney Quest. I decided to start out by trying something I'd never done before.
CD Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Part 2: Disney's Animal Kingdom I truly believe that Animal Kingdom is the most beautiful park in the country (that I have been to anyways). There may not be as many attractions as there are in the first three WDW parks, but it has a great atmosphere. However, the attractions DAK does have are top notch. Expedition Everest, Dinosaur (this could be much much much better, I'm still hoping that this ride will get a huge refurb that it deserves one day to put more on the level of the Indiana Jones'), Finding Nemo The Musical, Festival of The Lion King, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and the two animal walk throughs are all great Disney attractions. The latest construction projects have been real quality work, like Disney can be known for with the right funds. Finding Nemo The Musical, Expedition Everest, and Yak and Yeti Restaurant have been amazing additions to this park. DAK has so much possibility and I am very excited to see where the future leads. Anyways, I went to DAK for only an hour. I got there at 4 and the park closed at 5. So, I just got some pics to try and capture the beauty of the park as opposed to the rides I'm sure you've all seen anyways. I also stuck around for Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade, which I had never seen before. I had heard pretty negative things about the parade, but I really liked it. It's fun, a pretty good length, and creative. I put it behind Spectromagic for my favorite parade. Onto the pics: One final shot, when the people leave the birds come in. Hope you guys enjoyed! Come visit me this spring at WDW! This is what happens when a parade ends and a park closes... Such a beautiful park. How many animals can you see? Amazing park icon. A few more TOL pics. And Mickey brings in the rear. Pluto, not as awesome as Goofy, but still cool. Keep on Jamming! (Horrible pun ending now) I've never really been too much of a Donald fan... Well at least Rosie is looking better. She lost some weight! Drummer "Jamming" away. Greatest character ever! This parade is unique in another sense. There are drummers on some of the animal floats. Minnie knows how to pose though. Hi Elissa, the best rodent pic I could get. It's quiet different from the other Disney parades. here we go. It looks great though! Looks like it's almost time for the parade to start. Yet, for some reason I don't believe that the entire continent of Africa is this nice. Once again, the detail here is amazing. Africa provides the best view of Asia, who'd a figured? Africa Africa This tree now reminds me of Avatar. Animals that don't have to stay. Tree of Life. It's got some great detail. Bridge connecting Discovery Island to Asia. B-E-A-utiful There are some things that make you realize you're still in Orlando (the Mickey ears). again. How many zooz/theme parks have detail like this? And for an animal exhibit! So much detail. The tigers have a nice exhibit as well. Tigers = pure awesomeness the side of Yak and Yeti (Great food here). I think it was too cold for the monkeys to be out but they have a really cool exhibit. You gotta love Disney theming. The rest of the pics (until the parade) will focus more on the beauty of the park. Beautiful, no? EE is Disney imagineering at it's best. Do I even need to say it? (through the trees!!!) What's that I see around the corner? Only my favorite coaster at WDW. My favorite park icon besides Spaceship Earth. Welcome to the beautiful Disney's Animal Kingdom Park
JimmyBo Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I have to agree with you on the Animal Kingdom being a beautiful park. I was blown away at how amazing that park was and how well they mixed the exhibits with rides and theming. Disney really knows how to make beautiful parks. Great pictures! It makes me want to go back to WDW Jimmy "Missing WDW already" Bo
CD Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Thanks Jimmy! I really think Animal Kingdom is underrated. Once they get a few more major attractions I think more people will appreciate the park for what it is. I just wish we could have received Beastly Kingdomme... But if the Mysterious Island (replica from Tokyo DisneySea) rumors come true, who cares?! A new continent/country (Australia seems to be the most plausible rumor) and/or a Mysterious Island replica might make this my favorite Disney park.
