  1. This has probably been said for half the posts on this thread, but Millenium Force is THE definition of overrated. #1 ride in the world my A$$, it barely pushes 3rd best ride in the park

Dwight would like a word with you...

    That is all...

With all due respect, MF is the third-best ride in the park IMO (#1 is Maverick, and #2 is Raptor). That being said, it's a close third.

  2. I'm thinking about coming to the park sometime during a week in July. I have a few questions --

    1. What week would be the best? They're all hot.

    2. Is a flash pass worth it? Is using toilet paper worth it?

    3. Where should I stay? I would suggest a hotel

    4. How many days does it take to do the park? Depends on if you are a credit whore or like to enjoy a park

    5. What rides are must rides?Batwing, Gold River Adventure

That is not what I expected

    I lost it at #3.

  3. Can someone get a pic of this land clearing?

weird. way too large an area for fireworks. the fact that it's right next to i305 in plain sight means it's probably not a storage facility. and it's way too far away to be a new ride.

i guess the optimist in me could say something like "well, it could be a turnaround for a big B&M ... " but i don't want to get my hopes up.

Ooh! It's an RMC themed to bulldozers!

  4. ^ To be fair, it is the tallest and fastest dive coaster in the world. New York magazine probably skimmed the press release and slapped the title on there to boost readership. Not a particularly dumb thing, just laziness.

As for real stupidity, I ran into this guy In line for Boulder Dash who was whining about how Lake Compounce sucks because it doesn't have Flashback. First off, it does, and second, Flashback is the worst coaster at SFNE (it beats the SLC out by a hair IMO).

  5. Millennium Force is phenomenal. In addition, I would nominate Boulder Dash. Why? It's not got any airtime, but the fall directly into punishing laterals that never seem to end sets the tone for that ride: Dash is in control. Dash will do what it wants to you. You'd better suck it up and take it like an adult.

    Also, Larson drop towers.

  6. ^ I wonder if they make that shirt in 4XL? I have a friend who needs to be embarrassed again.

I could go on. Bit I won't. But I could.

  7. I thought pneumatic, like S&S, were held up up by a constant cushion of air so even if the cables failed the carriage wouldn't plummet to the ground.

Those pneumatic towers still rely on the cables to somehow connect the cars to the pneumatic system.

ARM/Larson towers use large permanent magnets on the cars. So unless something wonky happens to how physics works, they'll always come to a slow crawl before reaching the ground.

  8. The GP's reaction to Valravn on Facebook...

-After the problems at Alton Towers I am totally put off by these rides. It seems money is more important and that they cut corners where safety is concerned.

-"Final destination" the movie made me to avoid such an extraordinary means of entertainment

    -this look dangerous

-Can you really trust a rollercoaster that has a name that sounds like it was on sale at Ikea?

-There's no amount of money that could get me on that ride ! Some one will die on this thing !

-Oh my doesn't even look safe

-Busch Gardens has had this ride for two years.

Ok, you gotta admit that one is pretty funny.

  9. Does it annoy anyone else that the train doesn't stop by Superman? It could save people a walk in the hot sun through the ugliest part of the park with absolutely no shade, bathrooms or anything worth looking at whatsoever. The fact that the train goes right by it and doesn't stop is almost cruel.

PS: That's the worst train ride of any park ever. Don't get me wrong... Dorney's train made a valiant effort (not the Zephyr, the upper train) but why does it go through the backstage area? What the hell? lol

I think the problem is the station would be so close to the next station. If they turned the catering section into a new area and then created a new connection path down towards Superman, maybe that would help.

Edit- Or maybe remove the catering station and create a new station further down the tracks closer to Superman.

Edit 2- This would be more expensive, but maybe they could restore the track layout to its full original length (as much as possible). In an old aerial photo, I saw that the tracks used to take a wider turn past the catering area and went completely around Wild One, eventually returning to its current layout.

    Original layout:

    Current layout:

You can still see remnants of the old layout:

I must say, that is the most obnoxious watermark I have ever seen.
