  1. ^ Thank you for your feedback. I understand what you mean about the trees and the various other foliage, i noticed that and have tried to start improving that. As for the buildings, i totally agree, most of them are pretty poor quality. I am not good at all creating the various buildings, but i have started reading some various tutorials from the old Atari forums that help considerably. As for the paths, I understand what you are getting at, and ill try to fix it. I also want to thank your for the praise of my coasters, that really make me feel good . But unfortunately i am sad to say that I am going to put this park on hold for a while to work on other projects for a while. I don't know when the park will come back.
  2. ^^That was how most of the generic TOGO Standups layouts were like, B.A.B is correct. For reference: http://cache.rcdb.com/8q78g0038f8l8j3as025o0.jpg http://cache.rcdb.com/2ij8g8l8j3ao7bdo5j2003.jpg EDIT: I am going to advance the park to 1996 so there may not be many updates for a while. A few things to expect from the park in its future: 1. A lot of expansion behind King Cobra. 2. A Dinn Corporation Woodie. Many more things will remain secret until further notice.
  3. Taken from Amusement Park Weekly June 12, 1984 During the off season, Erie Straights Amusement Park and Cedar Fair announced Phase Two, to make the park more enjoyable overall. In this review we will see if they delivered. The Entrance hasn't changed much since last season. The little area next to the entrance has been expanded to now include a theater and a stop for the new Monorail. The Voyager was opened last year but never pictured properly. Pictures of all four stations for the new monorail. The Monorail itself was quite efficient and gave good views of the park and it's surroundings. The Dodgem attraction was also a new addition to the park this year. The Lightning Racer had significantly less downtime but was still too rough to enjoy. The new Giant Wheel (Creative name isn't it:p) takes the place of the old restaurant that stood in the same area. The Island-View Restaurant is another new addition that provides excellent views out towards an island located near the peninsula, and of Lake Erie itself. This little stretch down the midway received a small restaurant, and also holds one of the monorail stations. A shot of part of the park from the Erie Fury's lift-hill. Cannibal was still running excellently. The Erie Fury itself was also running as well if not better than last year. Down near the King Cobra's end of the park we have The Asylum, which opened last year along with the park. It is a Himalaya type flat-ride. We end the pictures with these of King Cobra. Coaster Report: King Cobra - This was a somewhat rough coaster in certain areas but overall pretty good. Still however, second to Cannibal in the park. Overall Review: 8/10 The team behind Erie Straights Amusement park really outdid themselves with the Phase Two operation. They have answered the need for better flat-rides and dining areas, along with adding an entire theater, transport system and a brand new Roller Coaster. The park only receives a 8/10 and not higher because it is missing the "it" factor that would give it a 9/10 or even up to a 10/10. 4. ^Who knows what could happen! something you have said is correct though. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Press Release by Erie Straights GM Lima Lomero December 12, 1983 I, on the behalf of the entire Cedar Fair company and Erie Straights amusement park, would like to announce Phase Two. As all of us are aware, Erie Straights received very low reviews from critics and guests alike. Phase Two will hopefully cause you to reconsider your evaluations. This project will be able to ensure the satisfaction of our guests in every area. The details as of what is to happen during the Phase Two construction is highly secret, but it will shatter all previous expectations. The Phase Two process began on November 1st. Phase Two will be completed in time for the 1984 season. To receive updates on Phase Two, please contact us to receive a free weekly pamphlet. Thank You. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Extracted from Erie Straights Amusement Park News March 31st, 1984 Here at Erie Straights Amusement Park, we are working hard on the completion of Phase Two. We are now able to show you one of the highlights of Phase Two, King Cobra. The King Cobra is a standup coaster designed by TOGO. We will let the following photos speak for themselves. That is all for this small news report, the next will come soon.
  5. Thanks for commenting! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Extracted from Amusement Park Weekly June 12th, 1983 By: John S. Lewis Yesterday was the grand opening of the new Erie Straights Amusement Park. If you were unable to attend, do not fret! We have a full report to give you the feel of the park. The Main entrance had been given a sign signifying the opening. Other than that there was no other decorations of that kind. Right next to the main entrance there is a pleasant little park-ish area. It certainly is a nice place to relax. The lift hill of the Lightning Racer looms overhead. Even though it is brand new, it was quite rough. The layout, while having many hills provided little airtime. Teenagers, however seemed to enjoy it. Across from the Lightning Racer is the Witches Wheel, a pretty standard flat ride. There is another flat ride just across the way called Parachute Drop. The Ugly building next to it holds a restaurant. This long pathway leads back to the main "midway" area. Cannibal as it goes through one of the corkscrew elements. Riders get soaked after this wild drop! The 'Little Fury' the little brother of the Erie Fury. This is a great starter Coaster for the kiddies. The rest of the midway, all the way down to the Carousel. At the very end of the park, there was this seemingly unnecessary pathway, which only led to a bathroom. Areas like these were abundant around the park, but this one being the largest of them. Is this where we will see a new attraction next year? Coaster Report: The Erie Fury: This coaster was fantastic. The airtime was fantastic, and it was not too rough. The only downside was that it was too short. Lightning Racer: Lightning Racer had many problems opening day. There was significant downtime that lasted from noon until 5 pm. Also, as I have already stated, the ride was too rough. Cannibal: By far the best ride at the park. Airtime was abundant, and it was just smooth as silk, even through the inversions. Erie Falls: Even though it is technically not a coaster, it deserves to be mentioned in someway. The ride is well themed for an average amusement park, and it also has one heck of a drop. Little Fury: As mentioned before, great beginner coaster. Overall Park rating: 6/10 Erie Straights gets a mere 6 out of ten due to the fact that the park seemed to be rushed. The wide open areas of nothingness and limited food choices severely effected this decision. Although there were plenty of thrills, this could not make up for the downfalls. Hopefully the park will add extensively in this off season. 6. Restatement of press release by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (1981): I, the new GM of the new Cedar Fair property, Lima Lomero, am proud to announce the production of a new Amusement Park, Erie Straights, due to be open in 1983. The Park will showcase four new roller coasters, numerous flat rides, and a log flume. The property, located in the northeastern corner of Ohio, will give Ohioans and people from the surrounding area another location for thrills. End of press release. ___________________________________________________________________ Article extracted from Amusement Park Weekly June 3rd, 1983: Article by: John S. Lewis Two days ago, employees and their family members were welcomed to the special sneak peak of Erie Straights Amusement Park, due open to the public on June 11th of this year. Cedar Fair asked everyone in attendance to not talk about the park until after the grand opening. Cedar Fair did however release three teaser pictures to the general public. In the first image we see the front entrance. Behind it you can see the pirate ship ride, which, as my sources have told me, is called The Voyage. You can also see the lift hill section of The wooden coaster, The Erie Fury. In this second Image we see the station, lift hill, and rapids section of the log flume, Erie Falls. And in this final picture, we see the double corkscrew section of the parks corkscrew ride, Cannibal. Cannibal is a somewhat strange ride however, as the lift hill and corkscrew elements were produced by Arrow Dynamics, while the airtime hills and the cars were produced by Vekoma. That is all for this short report, and remember, you can only get the exclusive scoop on Erie Straights Amusement Park from Amusement Park Weekly.
