| Wonder Rakutenchi is a traditional amusement park in a beautiful mountain setting. In fact, the view is its best feature, as the park is pretty beat up and rundown (it would make a great setting for a horror movie). It has only one coaster (another of those “Jet Coasters,” which are all over Japan), but there is a funky, faded charm to the place, and where else can you bet on duck races? (It has go-karts, a haunted walkthrough, and some flat rides, too.) Not worth a special trip, but if you happen to be in the Beppu area, you might want to ride the funicular up to Rakutenchi, just for the view. | |
