This year's PNE in Vancouver is again having an "Out At The Fair Day" on Thursday, August 29th.

The deal is, you buy rainbow socks from the Vancouver Pride Society (they have a booth at the Pride Parade Festival site Aug.04), wear them to The Fair, and you get in FREE! They cost $15 Cdn a pair, which is a great price, IMhO.

And they put an ad in this year's Pride Guide. Https://www.pne.ca/ways-to-save/ (8th one down, on the list)

Listening to an awesome recent Broadway Musical.

Perfect for our (Vancouver, BC) Pride Weekend... and Parade tomorrow.

Look it up, and I hope a tour of it comes to our town, soon.

Or they do it locally, like at TUTS during a summer!

if you're into Horror, or Horror Magazines?

the new issue of "Rue Morgue" not only is a special "Queer Fear" issue. . but put Freddy Kruger on the cover - but in a rainbow flag sweater (instead of just his iconic red/green stripes).

LOL

of COURSE I bought it.

Seen in the Ride Side Bar, in Playland, during our annual fair, The PNE. It was also on the women's sign.

Early this afternoon. I was impressed, and hope their other bathrooms have this.

Planning to check this out at the other 'rooms', on my future Fair visits.

Most excellent! Note this cover, although sporting a rainbow Freddy, is really about the star of Nightmare On Elm Street, Part 2 (1985), Mark Patton. (Actually, to a 12 year old horror geek, Freddy was the star!!) His documentary "Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street," is now being toured (got my ticket for Chicago!) It's about the very strong gay overtones in the movie and how it all affected him in terms of being a closeted gay... the movie is campy (but awesome) but caused problems for Mark Patton. Here is the trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEhrVRXMGjc

I've been waiting a couple years for this; as of now, they are still touring the documentary. https://www.screamqueendocumentary.com/

love they think that Nightmare 2 is the gayest horror film ever made. . .LOL. have they never seen Friday the 13th part 7: the New Blood.

if you've ever wondered why many of the couples have no chemistry, or why so much of the film is unintentionally hysterical?

it's because most of the male actors (as well as many of those behind the scenes on production) were/are gay.

there's a reason this film is fondly referred to by queer fans as "FriGay the 13th"

the book "Crystal Lake Memories" touches on a lot of this stuff.. but I've loved this film for years anyways, before even knowing this info

here's a discussion thread that has pics of the 4 out gay, leads from the film in the 1st post

^Oh yeah, I got that book right when it came out!

F13 part 7 might have had lots of gay cast members... but NOES2 is way gay on the overtones. I had no clue as a kid! It's almost a joke when you watch it now (still enjoyable!)

We were surprised at the Disneyland Resort, that in a few of the shops in both parks, they still kept their LOVE merchandise available! I didn't expect to get the mouse ears or a t-shirt, much less 2 shirts w/rainbow designs I liked. Awesome for Disney!

And even though it's over....Congratulations & Much LOVE

to BILLY PORTER for his Best Actor/Drama EMMY win, as Pray Tell in "POSE!"

His speeches on and offstage were wonderful and inspiring, too!

Much deserved, and just as compelling in Season 2, which just wrapped up on tv.

^ I would loved to have seen him LIVE as the original LOLA in the Broadway musical "Kinky Boots". He won the TONY for Lead Actor in a Musical for that, in 2013. A powerhouse of a performer he is.

KinkyBootsBillyPorter.jpg.ae3dfe7ef2bab84d05fc7adfc30ff9b1.jpg

"Kinky Boots" won Best Musical too. And Cyndi Lauper for Best Score. A total of 6 awards, all told.

I remember seeing quite a few of the ears when I was there near Christmas last year (at least in World of Disney)!

^ It was really great to see the merchandise still there, and it was especially nice to see an entire wall and counters devoted to "Love" in Elias & Company (the main shop) in DCA. That's where I got my two t-shirts. Couldn't resist buying (at least) two of them, lol. The Rainbow Ears I got at The Mad Hatter in DL, beside the Great Moments w/Lincoln attraction, Main Street.

Happened to be in Osaka while Pride (ie: Rainbow Celebration) was going on. So of course stopped in

Not huge but a fun event with a big family/kids turnout

Some of the entertainment was “the rapping grannies”. They were great and had a big line when signing autographs after. LOL

Well, it's pretty much an entire month of celebration nowadays, isn't it?

But not many parades are going to happen this summer. If any. And a lot of onscreen,

virtual, ZOOMing will be happening as the month progresses. Which is great!

Sooooo.... Happy Pride Month Everybody!

Are there any tips on finding fellow LGBT enthusiasts possibly in your specific area or region?

I'd look for LGBTQ Facebook Groups - they exist in several cites.

FB pages lead to local meet & greets. . and since from FB, they tend not to be "hook up" groups, but more truly "social" groups.

then once you start talking within the groups, you'll find others with similar interests.

I've met MANY LGBTQ theme park / coaster fans as part of the Atlanta Outlanders, the Dragon*con Queerios, or even right here on TPR boards.

This was just announced in the news. The artist, formerly known as Ellen Page, is now known as...

https://ca.yahoo.com/news/elliot-page-transgender-174401611.html

I was quite surprised by this. I have always enjoyed him in his previous movies.

We've also enjoyed him in the recent Netflix series, "The Umbrella Academy." Great stuff.

All the same, good for him to 'come out' in his own way and time, and feel very happy about it.

Noelle Stevenson recently did too (although she did not change her name, and said that any/all pronouns will continue to be acceptable to her).

if you're not familiar, Noelle does the amazing "Lumberjanes" comic book, as well as the "She-Ra" animated show.

her announcement of top surgery on twitter was hysterical. . .

^ The great thing about Elliot's announcement, was that it was treated really lightly on the general media, and like it was a 'no-big-deal' kind of reporting. Which I liked happening, at this time. No - big - deal.

Or deal with it, lol! 👼

P.S. (EDIT) Welllll.... not exactly light on publicity, lately. But pretty much all of it is very positive about Elliot's announcement, etc. Still great for him and the trans community.

...and from the "I LOVE IT!" Dept....

Hasbro Toys has decided to de-emphasize the Mr. in it's future branding of Mr. Potato Head.

Apparently, they're still keeping the Mr. and Mrs. Heads available, but with the "Mr. and/or Mrs." not as in-your-face on the box. etc.

Some LGBTQ2+ groups are applauding the effort they're making.

I'm just looking forward, to when they come out (come out, heh) with a boxed set like this...

PotatoHeadDads.png.c8186775e10c11ed967187eb0a33b706.png

Potato Head Dads and their bouncing baby tuber. And the set of Potato Head Moms, too.

{ I posted this in the MUSICALS thread, but it definitely belongs here, too... }

Hey all - I just watched an amazing online concert, of an annual New York event called Broadway Backwards which features Broadway artists singing songs from shows that are usually sung by the opposite sex. This year, they did an online feed of the show, and the results are A-May-Zing! Quite moving too, in a few of the numbers. You only have until through this Saturday to watch this, in it's entirety.

EDIT to add: It is an extreeeeeemely LGBTQ2+? Positive production. I was crying during several #s at the intensity of the artist performing it. And how they put it all together .... was really amazing and truthful and honest. I loved it!

Enjoy. https://www.broadway.com/buzz/200577/watch-starry-broadway-backwards-in-its-entirety-right-here/

And Please Be Forewarned: Because of the way this broadcast is being done during these times, there is a plot in it, which deals with isolation, drugs, alcohol, and personal identity and loving of one's self. Heavy, but worth riding out, especially with Jenn Colella as your guiding host. She's a trip, really! And she was the (TONY-nominated) Airline Pilot in the 911 musical "Come From Away".

"Cell Block Tango" (all woofy guys) is not new - but it still KILLS!
