The "Say Something Random" Thread

Here's a random question to anybody who reads this...

I have decided (in my mind) that a great thing for my local park, Playland(PNE) to do, on Mother's Day, next Sunday, would be to have someone handing out single roses to those mothers who bring their kids to the park, or the whole family, etc. They deserve a special little thank you. And I have always thought this would get great publicity for the park, too.

That said...what would you give a father bringing his kids to the park on His Day? Also a Sunday? Alcohol is out. Sports related stuff is kind of a loaded thing to do. Arts....well, probably not. I really don't know what would be universal for such a hand out.

Any suggestions?

And next, we have the New Canadian Ten Dollar Bill...

Front and back of it. I love the concept and artwork!

And it's easy to see when fishing out bills from your wallet.

Sideways. (o; Viola Desmond is the woman being honoured.

In memory of my grandfather, Warren (9/10/1934-7/24/2019), I present this poem.

Untitled*

When love is lost to the void,

We’re told false truths to ease

Into a life without them with us.

“They’re in a better place now.”

“They’re no longer in pain.”

But what about the rest of us?

We’re now in a worse place!

The pain has grown exponentially!

We try to see the point of those

Making an attempt to comfort,

But it gets blurred by the tears

That fall from our grieving eyes.

When part of our lives is forever lost,

How can we feel anything but emptiness

Where they just were moments ago?

How can it be all okay again?

Do you really expect us to just move on

With our lives like they never even existed?

Let me have my memories at least of the good times.

Let me look back in fondness at who I remember.

Don’t quote logic to my face right now.

Or I’ll shove your pathos back into your face.

It’s not what I need or want right now.

I just want them back.

*The poem is intentionally left untitled as it describes an emotion that cannot be simplified into a title.

Teacher: "Kids, what does the chicken give you?"

Student: "Meat!"

Teacher: "Very good! Now what does the pig give you?"

Student: "Bacon!"

Teacher: "Great! And what does the fat cow give you?"

Student: "Homework!"

and on of my best puns

The guests in this hotel are always stealing all the soaps, shower gels and shampoos from their rooms.

Dirty bastards!
