ssladick
Knott's Berry Farm has announced a re-theme of Bigfoot Rapids! The updated ride, Calico River Rapids will feature new animations by Garner-Holt and an interactive feature with off-ride guests to soak those on board. https://www.knotts.com/play/rides/calico-river-rapids A new expedition in an uncharted territory awaits eager explorers with the upcoming debut of Calico River Rapids, opening at Knott’s Berry Farm in summer 2019. Knott’s white water raft ride, currently known as BigFoot Rapids, will undergo a major renovation with the addition of new features to the attraction including new animatronics, themed show scenes, a new story overlay and plenty of dynamic water effects. Calico River Rapids will take voyagers on a search for new land through the outskirts of Calico. Rafters will encounter a variety of wild surprises along the way, such as roaring rapids, and indigenous wildlife. The circular raft ride, which seats six passengers, will traverse through unexpected twists and turns, rushing waters and rapid currents as it navigates the unexplored river path. Canobie Coaster
I always thought Bigfoot Rapids felt like the exiled child of Ghost Town and it was a pretty average as far as river rapids rides go. This update looks like it'll not only make Bigfoot Rapids feel more part of the area, but it'll also make it stand out more. I like the move! DJeXeL
Excited for this. Hopefully they'll upgrade the rides control system as well.
jray21
I can't remember the last time I rode the rapids. Looks like I will again soon!
thrillseeker4552
Very nice addition. I figured after the Log Ride and Mine Ride got major overhauls, it was only a matter of time before the same happens to Bigfoot Rapids. I'm excited to see how this plays out. I think this is right along the lines of what their next move needed to be.
ytterbiumanalyst
YES!!!! So glad they're not removing their rapids ride, and bringing new animatronics too? This is a must ride next year.
DBJ
The addition of a cavern is quite unexpected. The only question is where does that show scene get built? Looking at the concept art, I can see where the dynamite goes, the cabin goes pretty much anywhere. But that cavern? Maybe at the bend by Pony Express near end of the ride? Very interested to see how this turns out.

Very interested to see how this turns out. The ride technically already has a short cave area right at the last turn, but it's really short. Not sure if they plan to use that or build another, but if they use that I'd hope they lengthen it so it at least gets a little dark inside for the scene. aueft
Love it. If I remember correctly, Bigfoot Rapids has a fairly compact layout, but I'll be interested in seeing what they can do with it. Rapids rides usually aren't themed excessively, so they could easily make this world class.
SoCalJasonland
A few photos from Friday, Nov. 16th. The rapids ride has a new sign but not much other work showing. Hollywood Hits pizza is now Beachy Keen's Pizza and serves Dole Whips. There is quite a bit of Christmas decoration up now. New rapids sign Bend where dynamite water effects should be added Hollywood Hits is gone New place has Dole Whips Christmas on the boardwalk Christmas burgers Christmas ghost town
Nrthwnd
Here's the art concept of that "Dynamite Area" (care of KBF, thanks) that will fit where the Pony Express goes by, over, and around. And I still think they should put a Haunted Swing into Mystery Lodge. Oooooh lots of EXPLOSIVE! wet fun, there.
Canobie Coaster
Does Knott's keep their entrance open right until closing? I've seen some parks close it off in the last 10-15 minutes. I have a season pass and if my plane arrives on time, I may just make it before they close. If I can sneak in a bonus GhostRider ride at night, I'm definitely interested. Canobie Coaster
I never thought I'd see the day when Xcelerator's front row queue or GhostRider was a walk-on. I definitely had a holly jolly 2 hours at Knott's tonight thanks to American getting me on an darlier flight.
Twistedtatsu805
It's been a while since I've had a Knott's pass. I see the Platinum is on sale right now for $200. How much is it normally? Does it include Scary Farm admission?

KBrylczyk
Does it include Scary Farm admission? No, but you get a discount on single day and the scary farm season pass.
joelwee
^ The Scary Farm discount is only $5, though. I think all season passholders receive the same discount, too.
