Casino Pier (Seaside Heights) Discussion Thread

 Blasphemy!

Great White is running like new and retracked/etc Nor'easter should be an interesting thing to experience. I'm dying to know what thats gonna turn out like. We could have the best SLC in the world (or it could be a complete and total waste of money).

Not to mention all the amazing flats.

Sorry Lar but if you're gonna bash Morey's I'm gonna defend it.

I know you are going defend the place. It's good that Great White is running like new, but I'm not driving 2 hours to ride it when El Toro is only 50 minutes away. You have a lot more faith in Nor'Easter than I do. I'll return when they build that new woodie.

Fair enough, I respect that. El Toro is superior by far in every aspect.

But as I've said countless times Moreys is much more about the coasters to me. I'm super stoked to go down Friday. And I'll likely only ride TGW & Screamin Swing (since Surfside is closed), but also boardwalk food, the smells of the salt air and boardwalk food, the sounds of the ocean and screaming riders, and checking out TGNE and this decent looking Oktoberfest thing they're doing. Not to mention I get to see family.

And for the record I'm on the fence about this Nor'Easter thing. I'm more curious about how it's gonna turn out/what they're gonna do than I am excited to ride it once they're done. It's Moreys though so of course I have high hopes.

So this is gonna be a clone of Karnan, right? Right?

A man can dream, dammit.

I haven't heard too many complaints about any of the Gertslauer's Infinity Coaster, except maybe Smiler

Oh, I've loved all the ones I've been on. Karnan is just on a whole different level of insanity, though. There should be one at every park.

Construction on Casino Pier Expansion Expected to Begin Within Days

Crews working on a planned expansion of Casino Pier in Seaside Heights have brought pilings into town, and have started dropping off the pieces of tracks and loops that will eventually become a new thrill ride.

The amusement pier will be expanded northward along the beach between Sherman and Sheridan avenues. The land on which the extension is to be built is still owned by the borough, but is awaiting final approval to be swapped with Casino Pier’s owner in exchange for a historic carousel and an oceanfront lot on the boardwalk. The pilings that will make up the foundation of the extension are being stored at the Hiering Avenue parking lot, while the unassembled future ride is located, behind a security fence, in a parking lot along Ocean Terrace. Officials expect work on the construction of the pier to begin shortly.

“They’re probably going to be starting to drive piles between the end of this week and the beginning of next week,” said Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz. “They started dropping the piles down at the Hiering Avenue parking lot, so it looks like it looks like they’re about to start.”

Vaz said Casino Pier officials are confident the pier extension and new rides can be operating in time for the 2017 summer season. As it stands now, Casino Pier has received approval from the borough to build the physical extension to the pier, but must come before the planning board and submit a final site plan detailing what will be built on it before rides can be assembled.

Maria Mastoris, marketing manager for Casino Pier, said the company will announce details on new rides at a later date.

Im guessing its gonna be along the lines of Untamed or the Spongebob Coaster at Mall of America.

If the coaster is anything like either of those two, I'd be 100% on board. It'd be by far the best coaster the pier has ever had, ever.

Rot in hell, Star Jet.

And Bill, I certainly hope you are joking when you say you don't recognize Meg Ryan / When Harry Met Sally, especially the iconic "I'll have what she's having" scene.

You can't ever forget about t shirt time. What's the point of even GTLing if you're not gonna have t shirt time? You might as well just GT, bro.

PS: I always used to think Jersey Shore was a reality show but after going to Seaside I now consider it a documentary. Anybody else?

Not even gonna lie I used to watch religiously every week except the Italy episodes

I won't lie either. I'm pretty sure I watched every episode and I normally hate reality TV with a passion. It was just such a train wreck. Other than Pauly D they were just the biggest group of idiots I'd ever seen (he honestly seemed like a semi normal human being who was just there for comic relief... Vinny was okay too).

^ While it may not be true about Jersey as a whole, it's definitely true about the Jersey shore. That's coming from someone who for the better part of three years spent many nights at the boardwalk or various bars in Seaside Heights.

That said, I blame the cesspool, Pizza-Rat-infested, vomit pile of a city (otherwise known as New York) more than anything. The vast majority of these people either came from there or desperately, desperately want to be from there. I know some of these people first-hand.

We used to run into the cast on occasion. Paulie D was the only "normal" one. Even before they were famous, it was a regular occurrence to see the Situation hanging out outside Freehold Mall and try and pick up high school chicks. Effing creepy.

D and I watched the first episode like "Ugh this a train wreck" and by the third week we were completely hooked. I followed that dumb show all the way to the finale and then watched the Snooki & JWoww show for two seasons, religiously. (What can I say? I got a thing for JWoww!!) <3 <3 <3 Pauly and Vinny are awesome too.

Seaside is mostly stupid, but Casino Pier itself is actually pretty nice. I went last spring, and even though it's very small, they fit in some really good flat rides, it had a good atmosphere, everything seemed kept up well. Again, it's not much (since by next year they'll only have one non-kiddie coaster), but it's one of my more highly-ranked boardwalk parks.
