The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Oh I was thinking about that hill after Goliath's Overbanked Turn. Never mind then.

TR for 3/7.

Arrived at 9:45 A.M. and found parking in first row. Bus was kind enough to stop on return. Was about 25th in line at GP; took 7 minutes to get in park.

Boarded Yolo at 10:23 A.M. Had nice chat with gentleman who studied physics and told me about magnetic trains, and how yolo "hovers" above the track.

Jogged over to X2, but stopped along the way to use the toilet. Noticed a small line and estimated a 15-20 minute wait from the end of the first switchback. At 10:34, the ride is down for a "minor delay." Then the delay becomes less minor and we find out the ride may be closed, so I continued to Tatsu.

Encountered a 10 minute wait for Tatsu and boarded the next-to-rear row after waiting an extra train because someone had a platinum FP. Decent ride; ran smooth. Got off and noticed that the line had grown to more than 60 minutes because the X2 people decided to walk up the hill.

Found out Superman would be closed for another 30 minutes, so I took advantage of a legendary 2-train operation on Ninja. The ride seemed to need maintenance as it was grinding badly out of the station. Saw the lack of trees and noticed Jet Stream was dry. And RR and Tidal wave was closed. No water rides, and X2 was still not up. Must be "three flags" day.

Superman opened about 10 minutes after a double walk-on at Goldrusher, but when I got to the front of the line, something frightening happened. The car came back with people screaming, as if something was wrong. Almost suddenly someone popped out of the disabled entrance door and told us that there'd be a "minor delay." I looked through the cracks in the doors and the car was not in the station: the auxiliary brakes must have come on. Thinking strange things were happening, I decided to leave.

It looks like "M"arch at SF means "M"aintenance as half the rides were closed down: all water rides, Superman, X2, Revolution, and Scream. And someone said LL was not working.... Trees next to Ninja were down, too. I felt like I was a beta tester instead of a normal guest! Others were complaining about downtime, too, and it just didn't seem like a good day to go.

^ any word about what happened to/on Superman? This unfortunately doesn't sound surprising for SFMM! Luckily I have a season pass, but there's been too many times I've gone there and thought to myself, if this was the once in a few years trip I took to SFMM, I'd be pissed sigh

Pretty interested in hearing what's going on with superman. And its awesome to see all the progress with TC. Can't wait for it to open!

Some new pictures from California Coaster Kings! The small bunny hop on the blue has been put up and the Top Gun Stall will be up soon! Note that the green double down goes into the hole in the ground! There's also a lot of twisty stall track in the foreground, hopefully up by next week.

Wow they're really moving now. Looking great!

So much time is spent by several people postings these pics and I thank you.

I see more in these pics then I see first hand with it right in front of me.

The green track just looks sick... really sick.

So much progress this past week that I cant wait to see it again next week.

I especially enjoyed your before and afters. The green side of TC... oh my... I didn't even know you could do that on a roller coaster until today. RMC certainly has some state of the art maneuvering in their track layouts in both this and Wicked Cyclone.

Scream! looks gorgeous in its new paint, never did care that it was built over asphalt as many fuss about but I did not like the old support colors and yellow rails, looks outstanding now!

I feel 2015 is a big year of progress for SFMM, good to see them improving (and completely overhauling!) existing rides and structures.

I appreciate the photo of the old "troll" exit sign. Didn't know any of those were still around.

They say blue and green must never be seen, but this coaster already has one of the best visual impacts of any coaster I've looked at! And fits so much twisting around the feet of Goliath.

Ya, i liked seeing the troll sign as well....wish those characters were still being used instead of the Looney tunes and ESPECIALLY the DC Comics characters.......i rather they didnt have one at all instead of that stuff...the trolls were original and unique to the park.

When do you think this ride might be completed? If they finish the track this month...do you think testing could be done in April for a May opening date?

I would say the track won't be complete until early-mid April, and, barring setbacks, a Memorial Day opening, as Six Flags does (attempts to do) with all major ride openings.

That double down drop looks like it shouldn't exist, maybe its the angle that the photos are taken but that looks absolutely insane!

Rats, haha. Just a couple days after I leave college to go back home for the summer. I guess it'll be waiting for me next fall.

The 2nd hill on both sides and the 5th on the blue side kinda resemble the final bunny hops on Lightning Run. Wonder if they'll have the same type of airtime being reported on LR

The airtime on Lightning Run's bunny hills is like getting the Heimlich maneuver. It would be pretty cool if Twisted Colossus can deliver air like that.

Scream looks great! And the double down on TC looks deliciously evil.

Here's a new one. I was at the mountain today and notice the Batman Action Theater had a tractor hidden inside. Maybe some demolition is coming. It hasn't been used in years and is looking bad. It was tough getting a better picture, but you can see the tractor in the picture.
