Dollywood Discussion Thread

Great trip report! I've really been wanting to get back to Pigeon Forge to ride the SMAC. Looks awesome. Thanks for sharing!

That report makes me sad that i live 13 hours away from Dollywood. I still managed to get down there twice this year, if I lived any closer I would go much more. The more times i go there the more it solidifies it as my favorite park, especially during the Christmas event. Anyone who hasn't been there must find a way to go no matter the distance. There is something special I can't quite put my finger on about Dollywood, I've never had a bad day there.

Can someone let me know why Adventure Mountain was removed? I really enjoyed it. Has it been sent to another park or place?

It looks from some photos that some of the supporting buildings of Adventure Mountain have been kept. Are those staying?

Maybe it was just case of things come and go and Adventure Mountain needed to go but I guess you guys will let me know.

Adventure Mountain was moved to make way for Firechaser Express. It was taken apart carefully so it could end up somewhere else, no decision was ever made. Not sure why Firechaser Express was planned for that exact plot of land because Adventure Mountain was still a popular attraction.

We are planning on hitting Dollywood sometime next summer.

I'm fairly confident that as popular as Adventure Mountain was, Firechaser will still be a lot more popular.

Not that I am in the know or anything, but from what I have heard from around the park, AM was a staffing nightmare and a possible liability issue for it being a general admission attraction. Ended up costing them much more annually than they were expecting.

So, take that with a grain of salt.

Honestly, Adventure Mountain was my main draw to try and go to Dollywood because I love ropes courses. But, Firechaser Express looks really cool. It kind of looks like Adventure Mountain never existed...

Nice DollyWood update. Looks like they're pretty far along on construction on the new coaster.

FireChaser Express is really moving along. When we were there 2 weeks ago there was very little track visible from the midway.

Here are a few more photos from Fire Chaser that I took yesterday. That lift hill looks so long. I didn't realize just how massive this project was. It weaves with old Adventure Mountain pieces really well.

I really need to make it a priority to get to Dollywood. So many amazing shows and rides.

The support looks so strange on the last picture. Is there a reason why Gerstlauer designed it like that?

^Do you mean last picture or second to last? If so, well... I don't really know either.

Looking really good and decently sized for a family coaster.
