Good luck to the company who has to tear it out. It's going to be one hell of a rim job.

They are not wasting any time! The park is now closed through Friday and I wanted to stop by before work to see if anything was being done. As I pulled up they were unloading the last of the boats off of a trailer in the parking lot behind Adventuredome. Keep in mind, the ride has only been closed for 12 hours. Photos are below, this was as close as I could get to them because I had to get to work. I will try and stop by for a closer look later this evening. Enjoy!

This appears to be a very old boat that hasn't been used in a very long time. The boats that were painted a couple of years ago are the ones they have been using.

Why is Rim Runner being torn down? I don't really know much about Adventuredome...

One thing I have noticed as well is that the boats are very similar to Snake River Falls at Cedar Point, maybe some of the parts from Rim Runner can be used for that ride?

Bummer, I really enjoyed riding Rim Runner when I was younger with my mother. Hopefully will get to Adventuredome next year on my road trip to Wisconsin and ride the new coaster (S&S El Loco, right?) Next year.

Looking like it's the same Arrow boasts used on Snake River Falls. Cedar Point could buy the parts for it, considering I don't know how many of those Arrow shoot-the-chutes exist. I know that the remaining Arrow flumes could very well be on the way out in the coming years as we've seen a few removed just this past couple years due to the lack of parts, and well, after 30+ years, the fiberglass boats usually start failing and the ride becomes a maintenance nightmare. Oddly, the flumes that were built during the 70's are hold up much better than the ones built during the 80's.

I suspect that is the case. Don't see any other reason why they would care to take the boats out and store them.

Considering there is no way an El Loco is going to take up all that space. I wonder what they're going to do with the rest of the space freed up?

I'm thinking mostly of where the channel that went from the station to the lift was since the El Loco is going where the splash pool was.

Maybe they'll keep that part of the channel and theme it more to look like a natural river in the dome? I doubt it considering the whole reason they're removing the ride and reportedly at least a portion of the mountain is a lack of space. I just hope that the dome doesn't turn into an indoor version of a ghetto carnival without all the theming if it really does go away.

Offering one of the smoothest rides in the business, El Loco's innovative, four-person cars feature an open design which will give riders the feeling of flying during the 75-second ride along 1,300 feet of track.

The El Loco design pushes the limits of what can be accomplished in a small footprint, maximizing space with a soaring, eye-catching structure set to be the new focal point of The Adventuredome.

While The Adventuredome says "hola" to El Loco, it waved "adios" to the iconic Rim Runner. The new action-packed El Loco will take the place of the Rim Runner flume ride, one of the park's four original attractions.

El Loco, designed by S&S Worldwide, Inc., will have riders dropping, turning and twisting in some unique ways. The ride includes a 70-foot ascension before plunging over and backwards in a 95 degree motion and delivering a negative 1.5 “vertical-G.” Guests will be sent on a 45-degree outwardly banked turn, a greater-than-straight-down diving drop, and a 180-degree turn that races over the edge into a barrel roll. (In case you wondered, this all sounds like a pretty typical day at momentum World HQ.)

The new, 75-second yellow and black ride features open design cars that will make the four riders feel like they are flying along the 1,300 feet of track. The other four El Loco roller coasters are in Indiana, France, Australia, U.K. and China. Riders will have to be at least 48 inches tall to go on El Loco, which joins The Adventuredome’s 25 other rides and attractions spread throughout five acres.

This will be a great addition. Hopefully some more places on the strip see this and start building coasters of their own again. (I'm assuming that the rebirth of Speed isn't happening anymore. )

I see the rockwork in the concept art. Hope this is a sign that some of it will stay!

Wow thats great news! The ride seems like a perfect fit for adventuredome. I am also interested in the so called "custom soundtrack", will the demolition of Rim Runner allow for any other room for rides in the park considering the EL Loco will be going in the splash pool area?

That's just a photoshopped image of Green Lantern at Movie World superimposed over a picture of Adventuredome. However, I do hope most of the rock work stays.

Based on what I've heard about the other El Loco coasters, this will probably become the best coaster in Nevada. It sounds like the ride will be very similar to the others, just downsized slightly to fit inside the dome. I can't wait to give it a try next time I'm in Las Vegas (hopefully next year).

I think that Canyon Blaster and Speed are both great rides. Obviously Speed is no longer operating, but the point is that Las Vegas has and has had good coasters.

Excited for El Loco. Now if we could just get them to fix up the rest of that crappy hotel.

It'd be nice if the layout were actually unique, I'd love to see what S&S could do. But I suppose that there's no real reason to make a custom layout since most visitors to Las Vegas wouldn't have ever ridden or possibly even seen an El Loco.

Also hopefully S&S manage to fix the onboard speakers system if this is to have one. The one on Green Lantern very rarely seems to work.

If so, I'm dying to ride this new one. That outward bank and way-beyond-vertical drop will be amazing with that loose of a restraint system.

Do you know how much Circus Circus is dropping on this thing? Flamingoland droped about 4 million pounds on theirs, but I feel as though this one might cost a bit more.
