Gav
Surely you know how to pronounce ravine? Its a common noun (A Ravine being a small, deep valley).... "Ra Veen" is the pronunciation anyway. Geauaga Lake is prononced " 'G' Ah Ga " ( you can hear it here ) Bobbejaanland is pronounced "Bobby Yaan Larnd" ( You can hear it here ) Heide Park is predictably pronounced "Hye 'D' " ( You can hear it here )
macca_boy69
I thought heide was pronounced like that. Its an international name so i thought it might be different. Geuaga makes sense. Ravine i know its a small valley etc. but it could mean anything. Thank you. Robby
larrygator
The Ravine Flyer is named such because it traverses a ravine. "Ra Veen"
davethefish
I know one, herbs! Americans say it without the h, silly people MOD EDIT by larrygator: even though this is in the Random Fourm let's keep this thread limited to park/coasters, versus common words that have two pronunciations. Calaway Park
Kumali and Kumba. Blahh. I think it's Koo-mahl-ee and Kumba is Koom-ba but is it Koo-mahl-'I?' or "K-uhm-ba?" Thanks =]
Teacups Make Me Sick
What a funny thread...there are so many funny names of coasters...I want to go to Bush Gardens just to hear how to pronounce Sheikra (sp?)...I always think of Shakera (sp?), the singer. ebl
Six (siks) Flags (flags) Magic (ma-jik) Mountain (mown-ten) Not too hard, that one. Robby, I noticed from your location that you're from "Autralia," so I presume English is your primary language. But we have to remember that some park and ride names are not English words---especially themed rides when they're in an area with an ethnic theme. Some areas of the U.S. have a long history of Native American or Hispanic names, so parks and attractions within reflect that. And sometimes a word may have more than one correct pronunciation. larrygator
^That sounds more like a reading problem than a difficult to pronounce word. But I'm not going to make fun of Indiana today.
Kennyweird
How do you pronounce "Bolliger & Mabillard"?
ParkTrips
I honestly forget Bolliger, I think its pretty basic as in "Ball-ih-ger" but the other one is "Mab-ee-yard"

Jds03
I used to never be able to pronounce Eeanjankia, until I heard Chuck say it in the Fuji-Q video. I actually didn't even realize he said the name at first because I never tried comprehending what it sounded like. Now I can finally say EEE-an-JANI-KA

Sticky Nicky
This isn't a park or coaster but rather a city in which a park is located. Shakopee, MN is commonly mispronounced as Sha-Kop-"E" but is really pronounced "Shock-A-Pee". Shakopee is home to Valleyfair.

Tömmioh
^ I think it's pronounced something like this, "Ge (like the start of the word guest) R (like run) St-Lou -e(h)R (like in louder, without the d)" hmm, sorry, but I don't know how to make that more clear .
