ye gods. . .

my review (from FB):

Nick and I got out of the house today for lunch (Serrano's) and a bad movie.

yes, I have now seen:

"GEO-STORM"

*Horrifically* bad writing (example: early in the film, the guy who's been in charge of the whole satellite system for 3+ years has to have it EXPLAINED to him what a "Geostorm" is. . but then about 1/2 way thru the film, the satellite system starts flashing a nifty "countdown to Geostorm" -- yep, the guy in charge of the whole shebang doesn't know what it is, but there are timed countdowns to the term).

Decent to Questionable acting: the film is set in DC (tho seems awful easy to get from DC to Florida to Space in very quick time), yet one of the main characters - the BROTHER to the other main characters, inexplicably shifts in and out of thick Boston-ish accent ? (Ed Harris (he needed the money?), and a few others fare better. . but not great acting in this turd)

it even fails as Disaster Porn (they destroy Rio, but not only is Christ the Redeemer untouched. . it's NEVER EVEN SHOWN ON SCREEN -- yes, they impact Rio De Jeneiro, and never show it's most famous landmark on screen).

seriously, the special needs lady near us, who clapped and whooped at things on the screen, was more entertaining than the film.

I was expecting crap, but fun crap. . instead got . . . less than crap?

oh well. . we got out of the house, and it was only $2.

The trade screening for Last Jedi was today. Unfortunately I had to finish the schedule for the weekend so it looks like I will need to do a Quality Check screening either tomorrow or Wednesday. I've heard some good and some bad. But in general most were very pleased. (Seemed to have a better overall response than Force Awakens, but I doubt that will translate into dollars with the amount of screen-count competition this year.)

It'll still make enough bank through the box office and merchandise sales to finance the Fox deal by itself. I plan on seeing it at least three times during its theatrical run. For the record, I saw Force Awakens seven times in theaters.

I'm currently counting down the hours before TLJ (17 hours and around 15 minutes). Have to say wasn't expecting this much already on the web around the movie, I don't even want to know right now if it's worth my time but it seems like that is already spoiled. :p Luckly for me I got to sleep in that time and tomorrow I will be watching TFA before going to my local theater. But I wasn't ready to already be dodging spoilers this early. I will do a small review after seeing it.

^I'm painfully aware of that hence why I said I don't want to know if it's worth my time. I'm very affected when it comes to that, the past few years I only watch reviews after seeing a movie because at that time I set my mind in stone (I mean I love the Star Wars prequels, been exposed to all the hathe te and while I see where they get if from I still enjoy the movies to this date. Maybe it's because I love Star Wars for the stories not the movies). But yeah right now I'm going to stay off You-Tube till I've seen the film so I can experiance the movie as clean as I can.

I moonlight at a Star Wars bar on the weekends, and our yearly holiday party will be a private screening of TLJ (each year for a new SW movie).

Each employee gets to bring a guest onto a loaded party bus (beer, ciders, etc) on the way to the theater. We sold tickets to our regulars with the option of riding in another party bus with the same set up. We get to watch the movie in our own theater, and then ride back to the bar in the bus (this time filled with liquor). I am trying REALLY hard to avoid spoilers, but it's getting harder every day! HELP ME STAY STRONG!

I've seen it and I thought it was awesome. I tottaly did not expect the movie to go the way it did and was surprised big time. Really look forward to the Rian trilogy now. Also can't wait to see something about episode 9. I'm currently planning a second vieuwing soon.

I have to say, the amount of positive reviews this movie was getting, left me expecting more out of it. Not to say it was bad, but there's a bit I wish I didn't expect (as was my experience with TFA). With that in mind, they could have trimmed some of the fat. It didn't need to be a full 2.5 hours long.

My full review: This is not going to go the way you think.
