The Host. While it's *technically* a drama, it's still pretty damn good.

The only scary movie I've seen is not meant to be scary. Zombieland, which rocks. One or two startling moments in the movie, but it is categorized as horror in movie catalogs.

When I was in high school the go to scary movie was Alien. Great movie to take a date too. For full experience you needed to see it in a theater.

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The original - not the crappy remakes).
2. The Shining
3. The Blair Witch Project
4. The Thing
5. Alien
6. The Serpent & The Rainbow (the buried alive part just freaks me out)
7. The Omen Trilogy (the first one is still the best though)
8. The Exorcist
9. Jaws
10. The Mist

Watched the original Scream a while back. Very good, combines a who dun it type thriller with slasher while satirizing some of the horror movie genre. Manages to be very scary without just using a bunch of jump scares.

In no particular order:

1. Alien
2. The Thing
3. Insidious (the first film.... they lost me at the second and hopefully will win me over with the third)
4. The Conjuring
5. Blair Witch Project
6. Exorcist III
7. Poltergeist
8. Silence of the Lambs
9. Jaws
10. Just the basement scene from Annabelle. The rest was kinda crappy, but that scene was really good
11. Psycho (not with Vince Vaughan!)
12. Nightmare on Elm Street 1
13. Ok, yeah, the Scream franchise.

^I really really liked Alien. I only watched it a few months ago and thought it was fantastic.

The Halloween (except for the terrible Rob Zombie remakes) and Friday the 13th trilogies have always been my favorites.
