I agree with the timer, but it seems to me that challenges more often result in calls upheld than overturned. I don't think it's so much a matter of being right as there being enough video evidence to overturn the ruling on the field. The challenge system basically is biased toward the umpires.

^Indisputable evidence the standard all the other leagues use as well. Unless it's obvious, I think that is a fair standard. Having the managers wait for their replay guy is essentially waiting twice for the replay.

Personally, I think if leagues wanted to do replay right they would have one person watching each game and being ahead of the curve. Know already its a close play and already be reviewing in the event it is challenged.

That wouldn't be too hard to implement. There are at maximum 15 games at one time, so having 15 umpires in NYC shouldn't be too hard. Not sure how many they have now, but it's several.

That actually is what happens in the playoffs. The 7th umpire on the crew is sitting in NYC watching the game. During the regular season, the Replay Umpire is following just two games. They know when they are about to get called and the wheels are already turning in their heads when they see a play. They know exactly what angles they want to see. The issue comes in when these ideal angles aren't available. The time gets consumed when they need to take "S" & "E" from the 1st replay and "A" & "F" from the 2nd angle to get "S-A-F-E".

I just swallowed a whole donkey!

My only soothing thought is that I was absolutely certain that Cleveland was going to get their asses swept in both the ALDS and ALCS, and yet here they are. I will probably drink tonight.

The Tribe just feels like a Team of Destiny this year, and I think they're going to bring home another Title to Cleveland, in what is shaping up to be a great sports year for the city! Sorry to all the Cubbies faithful, but at least the World Series appearance drought is over. Maybe next year will finally be their Championship year!

Bam Bam Schwarber not cleared to play the field for the upcoming 3 games, so he'll be limited to pinch hit appearances for the Cubs. I read that the wind will be blowing out tonight with gusts of up to 40 mph. If so, that doesn't bode well for Tomlin at all...
