Photo TR: Elissa's first visit to Lagoon!

Recommended Posts

So today Elissa got to visit her last remaining "decent sized" park in the USA that she hadn't been to before. We can't think of many other major park with more than a couple of coasters that she hasn't been to now, so I guess this kind of completes her collection of "USA big parks!"

It was a great day, although I was supposed to go, but I became incapacitated, and I'll get to that later. The weather was great (it rained a little, but didn't impact too much), the staff was friendly, and even though the park was crowded, they did manage to get people through the lines as quickly as possible.

Cannibal lived up to the hype. It's a VERY solid ride. Elissa felt that while it might not be a "top ten" coaster, it most certainly was a lot of fun, had some nice elements and should be a huge, HUGE hit for the park! Great ride!

Anyway, onto some photos...

Weather is beautiful at Lagoon today! Mountain backdrop is amazing!

Got to the park about 45 minutes before opening, they put us in a holding area for Cannibal, and we were one of the first on the ride!

The coaster lived up to the hype! Super fun and solid ride!

CKiRt3iUsAEYZLA.jpg:large

The elements were great and had a few nice surprises.

CKiRt2iUYAEb4_v.jpg:large

This ride deserves to be a huge hit for the park!

POV Video! Check out the video of Cannibal we shot while at Lagoon!

CKiVCNIUEAQon9B.jpg:large

Holy cow! Line for Cannibal is huge! Guessing 2-3 hours! They certainly have a hit on their hands!

CKiVCNAUwAIpkH_.jpg:large

This is why it pays to get to the park early!

CKiXQO0UkAAEmz9.jpg:large

Nice to see Lagoon hang on to the "classics!"

CKiXQO6UkAA8dUn.jpg:large

Even though the "no single riders" rule was kind of odd, this is still a sold Schwarzkopf coaster!

CKiZ91AUAAA9bQ-.jpg:large

Speaking about Schwarzkopf classic roller coasters, look at this beauty!

CKiddAHUsAEIrIz.jpg

Taking a ride on the skyway checking out some great views!

CKiddAdUcAADrX9.jpg:large

Not many parks have sky rides anymore, so it's nice to see this one is still here!

CKiddAuUAAEN0cg.jpg:large

The park really does have quite a good selection of coasters!

CKiddBwUYAAt6tt.jpg:large

And flat rides! There are quite a few of them here!

CKihAedUwAAS_vW.jpg:large

For example, they still have a classic Rock-O-Plane!

CKilBeEUwAAUqIp.jpg:large

Time to take a ride on that Schwarzkopf!

CKilBgtVAAAX2mD.jpg:large

Colossus The Fire Dragon is 32 years old and still packs huge thrills today!

CKilBpKUsAAdo6J.jpg:large

Totally fun ride! It's too bad Dorney Park got rid of theirs.

CKin6-CVEAA21hO.jpg:large

Time to take a ride on a classic woodie!

CKin68jUMAAxkve.jpg:large

Lagoon's woodie is simply named "roller coaster."

CKin68RUMAEwUY0.jpg:large

Elissa is playing the part of Robb today getting footage at the park!

CKiuTt3UMAAmzce.jpg:large

Just rode the Wild Mouse. Fun little ride!

CKiuTt8UwAACWGl.jpg:large

They have a good balance of coasters for all ages here!

CKizq4aUkAAuYCs.jpg:large

Taking a lunch break at Lagoon! Teriyaki bowls FTW! Great stuff!

CKizq5BUYAAMlab.jpg:large

Yes, there was good asian food in Utah! lol

CKizq6LVAAAl7pZ.jpg:large

Kristen is just sticking with the plain rice!

CKi5JlNVEAARsAO.jpg:large

The park really did have a lot of great flat rides...

CKi5Jm7UwAAGfcp.jpg:large

You have classic older ones...

CKi5JkvUkAAVNPl.jpg:large

...and awesome newer ones!

This is how you "cool off" at Lagoon!

CKi9KnTVEAAcz_7.jpg:large

Bombora was a fully "in-house designed" family coaster...

CKi9KndUsAA0IXj.jpg:large

Including a fun "Roller Skater"-like layout and on-board train audio!

CKjBERSUcAAPX4V.jpg:large

Fun Facts!

CKjBERTUcAA6I6o.jpg:large

See! These are fun, right?

CKjGb7NUsAAEWSo.jpg:large

Some very cool looking rides in the kids section of the park.

CKjGcCXVEAAM2FX.jpg:large

Not sure I've ever seen a ride quite like this before.

CKjGb7GUYAAZb2X.jpg:large

And yes, there is a kiddie coaster

IMG_9828.thumb.JPG.27afcf37258b2013b844df33fe639965.JPG

It was kind of a tight squeeze! lol

What's that? You want some more Cannibal photos?

Sure! You got it!

CKjL4lQUMAAY23i.jpg:large

The single rider line was open, and it ended up being about 40 minutes single rider later in the day.

CKjT1zUUAAEJAcf.jpg:large

Wicked was having some mechanical issues earlier in the day, but it finally opened a couple of hours before we left.

CKjT1zWVAAA7Py9.jpg:large

What a GREAT ride! That launch UP the tower was awesome!

CKjT1zYUcAAG9-E.jpg:large

Very smooth ride with some great elements! Both this and Cannibal are huge wins for the park!

CKjqjOkUEAA-3Ka.jpg:large

Overall, Elissa's first visit to Lagoon was a huge success!

CKjqjUJUsAAkp2s.jpg:large

Got on all the coasters she wanted to and really had a nice day at the park.

CKjqjTaUAAAOEMT.jpg:large

It's great to see park this clean and this friendly with so many big rides!

CKjqjMaUsAEBn9Z.jpg:large

Thank you Lagoon for a great day! We will be back!

Meanwhile, I was down for the count because I broke my ankle the night before riding dirt bikes with Alan Schilke! Maybe I should stick to riding his roller coasters instead of more "XTREME" thrills! Oh, well, hopefully this heals up quickly!

That drop off the tower on Cannibal looks nuts.

Awesome report to a park that I'd really love to get to someday. Are the crowds as insane as the line for Cannibal or was it just bringing that kind of a line due to it being new? After all, it is the only major park in that entire area.

Hope the ankle heals up soon! I broke mine the "foot-pointing-up" way once by smashing my foot against a tree on a sled when I was 13 or 14. The sound of the ER doctor having to crack it back down into its proper position will haunt my nightmares for life.

^ gotta go to Lagoon! You don't see many places with that great of a flat ride collection anymore.

And to top it off, there are also two haunt dark rides, a river rapid ride, and a nice size water park that is in the park and included in the price.

Sorry to hear about your leg. That sucks!

The park also has about 40 picnic terraces of various sizes where you can leave your coolers full of food and drinks (which you are allowed to bring in, which is awesome). There's also a collection of historic buildings from around Utah with various historical exhibits in them known as "Pioneer Village".

Great report! I hope your leg heals quickly.

I was at Lagoon in 1996 and it sure has changed a lot since then. It looks to have one of the best assortment of rides that a lot of parks seem to lack nowadays. Cannibal looks amazing and it's great that Lagoon can put in something that is uniquely customized from anything else out there. Maybe more parks should take their example.

Congratulations to Lagoon for such an awesome ride! It sure looks like a park with a lot of soul and a different way of doing things.

As much as it really sucks that you broke your ankle you sure did it with the right person! Let's hope it heals well and quickly!

Great looking park and a real winner of a new coaster. A little trivia for you, the park's enormous ferris wheel was originally at Boardwalk and Baseball in Florida. It was one of two models B&B had during its life as B & B and Circus World.

Elissa, did you all make it to the back of the park? Lots of people seem to miss it, but they have an EXCELLENT rapids ride back there and a good family log ride as well as a replica of an old Mormon town!

I was just there a week ago, and the park was incredibly clean/spotless and very nicely landscaped. So many times, I have heard people rip this park for being ghetto and run down with terrible customer service, and that is absolutely, 100%, NOT true! It's a great park and everyone should visit!

I had no idea Lagoon had so much fun stuff!

gotta add this park to my Wish List. . . are there any other parks it's close to that I can mix this in on a trip plan?

GREAT trip report, and sorry about your injury, Robb. . get well soon!

We aren't much into Rapids rides so they didn't bother. I've been back in that area on previous visits, and while it's nice, I didn't find it anything to write home about.

Lagoon is an awesome park! Really loved it when I went a few years ago and it looks like I really need to get back. Great TR as always!

Oh, and that really sucks about your leg, Robb and I hope you get better soon. Though it DID make for one awesome closing sentence!

Great review of my former hometown park! Lagoon always has had a great selection of rides and although small, it still has one of the best family sections I've seen in a park.

Rattlesnake Rapids is one of my all time favorite rapids rides. Great scenery and awesome pacing with all the various elements.

The Alvey roll! A downwards vertical loop followed by 12 barrel rolls; and the whole thing is covered in trick track!

Get well soon Robb. Is there any estimation of when you'll be back to 100% yet?
