New Plopsa theme park in Poland announces expansion

300918majcgowie.jpg

Only one day after the official opening of the first Polish Plopsa theme park, ambitious expansion plans are being presented. Majaland Kownaty will open several new attractions in the coming years, worth tens of millions of euros.

"We have so much confidence in the project that we had already decided to expand the park before the opening", says Plopsa director Steeve Van den Kerkhof. The Plopsa Group works together with the Dutch investor Momentum Capital for the project.

The first phase of the park cost 20 million euros. Recently, construction of a wooden roller coaster of 7.5 million euros has already begun. Immediately after that, a third phase of another 20 million euros follows. It is intended that among other things a large water attraction is added.

The wooden roller coaster from the American manufacturer Great Coasters International is comparable to Heidi The Ride in Plopsaland De Panne, the flagship park of the Belgian Plopsa Group. The station building in Poland looks like a dilapidated wooden house. No Studio 100 character is associated with it. "We are now signing contracts for the other new attractions", says Van den Kerkhof.

Meanwhile, a second Plopsa park in Poland is also being considered. That should be in the Polish capital Warsaw. The exact location is not yet known.

Good. The world needs more White Lightning, it's a masterpiece.

Great to see the park seeing substantial investment so early in its lifespan. Heidi The Ride seemed like a solid addition for Plopsaland and a good model to build off of for this new park.

I'd be curious to see if the ambition for this park follows the Toverland model with a large scale build-out of the surrounding land after starting with a modest indoor/outdoor experience at launch... And if so, how quickly will we see the park grow year over year?
