I'm guessing Knott's realized it was election day and postponed their announcement. They don't wanna compete with Dana Rohrabacher.

I actually enjoy the scenery with the pools, rocks and waterfalls more than the actual show. Maybe something like a flying theater (you can fly over the millions of acres!) or a Vekoma madhouse. Just something new and unexpected for Knotts.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm pretty sure this is just an update to Bigfoot, but in the future I'd love to see Mystery Lodge replaced with a flying theater. Every show of Mystery Lodge is nearly empty, they need something more exciting to draw crowds in, and away from other rides.

I also have severe withdrawals from Soarin' so maybe that's why I want it so bad. haha

I don't think they have the space, but one of Dynamic Attractions' new Dynamic Theaters would be awesome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FWykUSyFrE

Knott's Berry Farm has announced a re-theme of Bigfoot Rapids! The updated ride, Calico River Rapids will feature new animations by Garner-Holt and an interactive feature with off-ride guests to soak those on board.

A new expedition in an uncharted territory awaits eager explorers with the upcoming debut of Calico River Rapids, opening at Knott’s Berry Farm in summer 2019. Knott’s white water raft ride, currently known as BigFoot Rapids, will undergo a major renovation with the addition of new features to the attraction including new animatronics, themed show scenes, a new story overlay and plenty of dynamic water effects.

Calico River Rapids will take voyagers on a search for new land through the outskirts of Calico. Rafters will encounter a variety of wild surprises along the way, such as roaring rapids, and indigenous wildlife. The circular raft ride, which seats six passengers, will traverse through unexpected twists and turns, rushing waters and rapid currents as it navigates the unexplored river path.

I always thought Bigfoot Rapids felt like the exiled child of Ghost Town and it was a pretty average as far as river rapids rides go. This update looks like it'll not only make Bigfoot Rapids feel more part of the area, but it'll also make it stand out more. I like the move!

Excited for this. Hopefully they'll upgrade the rides control system as well.

I can't remember the last time I rode the rapids. Looks like I will again soon!
