According to news reports dated around the end of November, the entire resort closed for renovations (we saw it ourselves, as we were in Vegas just before then and saw it all fenced off), but was scheduled to reopen Christmas Eve of last year. Their website says they're currently taking reservations... can anyone else confirm? Or know of the status of the rides?

Update: just saw on their website that "all amusement rides are closed until further notice".

JRice92 wrote:^ & ^^ Buffalo Bills is closed for a renovation currently. I was in Las Vegas at the very beginning of this past December and the website still said the coaster would be open. My friends & I drove out there to ride and that’s when we found out the whole resort and casino is closed for now.

They must not have an estimated time for completion.

Buffalo Bills was open in January. I stopped by just to see if it was open, and look around. It was dead inside, but also a weekday. Arcade was closed but all lit up. I think at least one fast food place was open near the Desperado. Not sure what they are renovating, i guess the rooms. the casino looked like i had remembered the last time i was in there. I usually never stop in but was taking my sweet time driving into vegas.

Okay gotcha, sad to hear the resort is open again but the coaster is not. The day of my visit was Sunday, December 3rd, I've been out of the loop since then.

i stop there to go to the shopping outlets. i knew it had been closed, but was driving by and saw cars, so decided to go see if it was open. everything looked normal. so i'm not sure how long it had been open when i went. might have been the day before for all i know. lol

I know the "I survived____" on a coaster T-shirt is a cliche, but on Desperado it is actually an accomplishment.

I'm probably spoiled but when I rode Big One or Desperado, I wondered how great it would be if they had Phantom's Revenge style restraints

Just got back from a weekend trip to Las Vegas and had a great time visiting the Adventuredome and the other area attractions for the first time.

The Adventuredome was overall very good for an indoor park. It’s quite impressive how they were able to fit all of those rides and attractions into a five-acre space. I enjoyed both of the park’s roller coasters, particularly El Loco. This ride really impressed me with how intense it was with its great ejector air, funky outward banking, and lengthy hangtime. Favorite coaster of the trip for sure, and I wish more smaller parks would build coasters like El Loco. Canyon Blaster was very good for an Arrow looper, probably my second favorite of this kind behind Tennessee Tornado. Loops were fun, the double corkscrew isn’t too jarring, and the helix had some nice force to it. As for flats, I rode Choas, Slighshot, Disk’O, and Inverter, the first three were all enjoyable fun, while Inverter wasn’t so good due to the extremely tight restraints. Aside from rides I didn’t do much else in the park, but the other guests seemed to be enjoying the games and other activities. I also have to compliment the park’s ride operators on their excellent operations, especially on the coasters. They wasted no time on getting riders through, and usually dispatched trains in a minute or less.

I also ventured down to New York New York to ride the Big Apple Coaster. I was completely aware of the near-universal hate for this ride and therefore went in expecting to hate it, but after riding it, I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Granted, I was riding it defensively in the front row, but I didn't experience much head-banging, and there were a few elements that I found enjoyable. I still think the price tag of $15 was a bit high for what I got though. All in all, it isn't exactly a good/great coaster, but I've ridden much worse.

I was able to ride X-Scream and Big Shot at the Stratosphere (Insanity was closed for high winds). X-Scream had me scared for a second when the car approached the end of the track, especially since I was in the front row, and Big Shot was essentially the same as every other S&S Space Shot I've ridden, just 900 feet in the air (though the ejector air pop at the top was a nice surprise). Additionally, I was able to experience the Stratosphere SkyJump, which was very expensive but worth it in the end. Getting to jump off a building 855 feet down to the ground is an amazing exhilarating experience that I'll never forget.

Overall I had a fantastic time in Vegas, and I look forward to returning sometime in the near future. :)

^^ Awesome I am glad that you had a great trip, I agree that ops at Adventuredome are great and they get people through on those rides, even on the busiest day, your wait times are never bad. As far as The Big Apple Coaster, you got on it just after it reopened from its annual maintenance, it is the best time to ride it, and it's amazing what a little layer of fresh paint can do to a ride (and re-tracked sections)!
