Re: Ocean Park (Hong Kong SAR, PRC): Pictures & Updates

Postby Capitalize » Thu Jul 29, 2010 10:28 am

Nice pictures. Its amazing how much Ocean Park has changed since I visited back around 2000-2001 (unfortunately the Mine Train was testing and the ground breaking had just begun for the S&S towers when I visited). I like Dragon's new paint scheme.

Ocean Park was definitely one of the most beautiful and interesting parks I've visited, you cannot beat the incredible views at that park (or at least I've yet to see a more scenic place).

Hong Kong is an awesome place, I'd love to go back some day.

Beware of the freeze-dried donkey!

Did some more research on the current expansion plans. Some good news and some bad news

Post 143 on the link above is a press release from the park that suggests during the expansion the Mine Train will be removed.

Park Chief Executive Officer Mehrmann said the current mobile gaming, in addition to the Mine Train in the future development of spa hotel will be removed and when, the other for the time being will be fully retained.

However it also makes mention of the new Looping rollercoaster expected for the Thrill Mountain Section of the park.

This model shows the rumoured B&M on the right hand side in a nice bright colour scheme with a lift and drop which utilise the terrain nicely.

There are also some nice construction pics here

Nothing major but it would be a shame to lose the mine train.

Why do I still have a donkey title???

A new standup coaster from B&M? Didn't see that coming, I thought that trend died a while ago. But by the looks of it it has a zero-g roll!

^^How is it breaking any records by being the first B&M stand up with a zero g?

Also would that Blue inverted layout be the first B&M inverted without a zero g roll or is that a zero g roll by the station, anyways looks like it going to be a fun ride with or without a zero g.
