    • $100 PER drink? Yeah, I don't buy that unless you have a picture of this so-called $100 drink. As far as the lines go, it's EASTER week and crowds are everywhere. ROTR had a 3 hour wait this week. You cannot blame the park for the insane crowds. Sorry you had a bad time, but I always tell friends and family to avoid the parks during holidays (spring break, Christmas) and don't expect to ride anything without shelling out money for FastLane or Genie+.
    • Damn! That’s too bad on the log ride. I have a family trip planned there on 4/11 taking 7 year old nephew first time and have been hyping it up. Hope for a speedy recovery…
    • Worst visit at Knott's ever, did Cedar Fair forget ride operations or is everything an attempt to sell Fastlane?  My sister and brother-in-law visited from Denver and we went to Knott's on Monday, March 25th.  Every coaster we rode seemed to follow the same pattern.  Load the Fastlane customers, load the blue card handicaps, and then if any space was left; they went to the regular line.  My family skipped Ghostrider and Xcelerator but Pony Express, Sierra Sidewinder, Jaguar, and rapids ride all had close to one-hour waits to where you could stand in line for a couple of ride cycles and the line didn't move at all. Knott's also has bars in the park with Margaritas/Tequila prices from $22 to $100 per drink.  My $22 strawberry margarita and $20 bloody mary made me almost puke and toss them in the garbage.  It was all sweet and sour with horrible generic/well alcohol.  Even the chicken restaurant and boysenberry mojito were bad.  The employees were nice and you can now tip on the credit card readers at the bars/saloons in the park but $22 for horrible booze trying to hide with a bunch of sweet and sour or cheap tomato juice is not a good combination. The track for the kiddie train is completely gone Eastery Most of Monte's track is gone too.
    • I was hoping that Cedar Fair would fix up Magic Mountain, but my visit to Knott's on Monday, March 25th was the worst visit I have experienced.  Even if two coaster trains were operating, the second train was stacked on the brake run for 5 - 7 minutes.  I looked up several times throughout the day and it looked like every ride was closed or broken since nothing was moving.  This is going to be one giant cluster eff merger solely designed to sell Fastlanes to pay off both companies' giant debt loads.  Neither park has any hustle to load or run coaters efficiently.  You would swear the employees were asked to help pay for the electric bills.
    • ^I’m sure the Six Flags social media team has the intel ready and available on both of those topics.
    • I agree and now restuarants are toying with that idea.
    • That was part of the issue but the main issue is Six Flags and the Fairboard had a blowout over the leasing and Six Flags basically said screw you we're out of here and vacated the premises. The Kochs dropped their interest as well for the same reasons when they were thinking about taking it over after it was abandoned.
    • I miss Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. If that op didn't let a girl's foot get MUTILATED, then we would've still had it. When Herschend bought the park 3 years ago, one of the comments on the announcement was "Just be glad Six Flags didn't buy them again." I was outraged. I actually LOVE Six Flags, and I'm always sad when they lose a park. It's either one of those "SF = bad, everything else = good" entitled thoosies, or someone who judged the park entirely on the drop tower incident. Of course, I really only care about Six Flags because of DC.
    • I can't wait for the future of this park. Reminds me of Warner LeRoy's initial vision.
    • Take them on that simulator kiddie ride that has Blue Streak and Gemini. I have it at my local mall. There's also the classic Kidsongs "Ride the Roller Coaster" video, and heck, even Blippi did a video where he goes to Fun Spot America.
    • When will this park finally get branded again?? Ride of Steel feels so empty without the Superman theme. And did we mention the late Don Kennedy doing the announcer spiel in the station??
    • I grew up in Syracuse and have been visiting the park since I was 5. I also worked there as a Rides Supervisor from 2009-2011 while in college.    The leadership team at Darien Lake was and remains incredibly tenured and talented. That said, the “hopefully this year xyz will be better!” comments I’ve seen floating around the internet/coaster forums & message boards for 20 years now. It continues to be essentially the same conversations which has been interesting to watch over the years.  I have a sentimental attachment to the park and care for its success, but to think something as major as a 2nd train coming to the park for Ride of Steel is frankly a pipe dream. Could be wrong, but I don’t believe that Six Flags approves capex, it’s the property owners (previously CNL, not sure who it is now) which means their hands are tied to an extent.   John Hildebrandt mentioned in his book on Cedar Point (Always Cedar Point) that Gemini had a hard time competing against The Beast back in the late 70s because you can’t really “sell” a coaster to the public by using hourly throughput as a value proposition. I can see why the threat of Boomerang’s closure took precedent over increased ROS capacity.   During my time, if and when we did have 2 trains available for ROS, we ran them 7 days a week regardless of crowds. We knew it was important and was always a pet peeve of mine when managing my area of the park. It just tended to take a while to have an available second train (e.g. in 2009 we don’t get it until early August). Intamin has always been notorious in the industry for not being the best about keeping parts in stock, or over charging if it’s not a white glove client of there’s. Vekoma was much easier to work with from what I recall.
    • The prophecy is fulfilled!   Or maybe not. But isn't it pretty to think so?
    • One would hope, but you know they haven't If I had one request for the park it would be that they manage to get multiple trains running for most of their coasters (I just don't see it happening any time soon)
