    • I agree that it's upsetting not having the free lockers and I'm shocked they didn't plan on them in the first place (or so they say), but here's how I look at it in the meantime:  If you must ride Top Thrill 2, pay for the lockers once just to try out the ride, then you can realize for the next time that you can ride Steel Vengeance instead, numerous times in a row while everybody else is falling for the "new hotness".   Of course, this won't work if you plan on being there opening day since the whole park will be a mess, or if Steel Vengeance is being stubborn like usual! I get it that typical park-goers and coaster-lovers alike need to ride this thing and don't always have the chance of going again, but I feel that I've been on enough similar coasters (Maverick for the first launch, Superman Magic Mountain Backwards for the second launch, Top Thrill 1 for the third launch) that I can resist the temptation and enjoy a less stressful time on the park's many other masterpieces! With that being said, I definitely look forward to riding Top Thrill 2 eventually and I am thrilled that it exists.  Have fun and don't stress out too much!
    • Taking it at face value with that statement, it makes sense that the recommendations were made too late to implement in-queue lockers. However, having that policy in place for years on SV and knowing the reason TTD shut down in general (loose object causing great harm to a visitor), it should have been a plan from the beginning to implement a strict no loose objects policy. Easiest and quickest solution is replace the "pay for play" lockers outside of the entrance with ones that operate for free, but Cedar Point won't do that outside of a queue as it gives access to anyone. Just horrible foresight and planning on this one.
    • Now there will be PAY LOCKERS ONLY at TT2. 🤬 Here is the latest post from the park.. Safety is their excuse. Right. This will make a mess. The long lines will start to get into the lockers now.   LOCKERS Working with the manufacturer’s recommendations, Top Thrill 2’s rider safety guidelines were revised after initial testing, resulting in our strict policy of loose articles not being permitted past the ride’s entrance. Due to the later revision, the integration of lockers into the queue, similar to those at Steel Vengeance, was not possible. We encourage riders to leave any loose articles with a non-rider. If you wish to rent a locker, they will be near the entrance for a nominal fee. These policies are in place for the safety of our Guests and Associates – and safety is our first priority. Thank you for adhering to these rider safety guidelines to ensure a safe and FUN ride. We look forward to seeing you on Top Thrill 2 this summer!
    • Those are actually the two rides that I was thinking made the most sense in the Spider plot. I'm glad that Waldameer wants to stay locally owned.  I agree that it does seem to be in good hands. I was actually walking around by the Waldameer parking lot, to the West of the park, the other day and walked around where the trailer park land is.  I don't think I realized how much extra space this will give the park, it will be pretty substantial. No clue what the plans will be, but there's a bit more room than I expected from looking at Google Maps.
    • Great interview with Mr. Gorman. Waldameer is in good hands with him at the helm.   So, new family ride in 2025. Seeing that the park has worked well with Zamperla, my guess is one of those Nebulaz or Windstarz rides that are popping up more and more. With Spider on its way out, maybe this is the plot the new ride will sit on?   Regardless of what they add, it's great to see the park expanding and continuing to do well in a time where other smaller PA parks were not able to make it (Conneaut, Lakemont).
    • There was a video posted a few days ago, of ThunderVOLT having a test run. Unfortunately, it only goes through one circuit.... I am hoping it does two runs. We'll see, eventually. Thanks to Playland(PNE) for the video.
    • There are a handful of older coasters that have manually controlled brakes.  Does it matter if it's a customer vs employee who has the lever?
    • I'm actually really surprised people are voting yes, if I'm being completely honest.

    • So, the only Bayern Kurve I've ever ridden was the one that used to be at SFGAdv and, good lord, I can't imagine that thing ever going 70mph.  Is the Knoebels version an XL model or something?  Because godDAMN that'll be a wacky ride.
    • Europa Park just released the POV of it's newest roller coaster Voltron
    • Does anyone know if there was ever a Bayern Kurve in the US that ran at 70 mph? Seriously, that sounds illegal... but I'll be in line for it when it opens!
    • Some good insights from Steve Gorman prior to the season starting on May 4th: https://www.goerie.com/story/news/local/2024/04/23/waldameer-park-water-world-erie-pa-steve-gorman-offseason-upgrades-2024-new-attraction-2025-season/73328368007/
    • Highlights: - The new Power Surge is not a portable model. It's permanent. I didn't even know that they made permanent models. The program will be crazier. The ride will not open on opening day. - They repainted Impulse even though it barely needed it - The park is very well staffed this year already - Every car of the Bayern Kurve apparently had it's own PLC. They've changed that. The delays have been due to that but it should be open in 2024. They also just had to reallocate people to other projects last year, like reopening the Skyway (suck it Lake Compounce). The ride will be the fastest ride in the park. The max speed is 70 mph. They're not sure if they can safely run it at 70 mph but they're going to try and if not, run it as close to 70mph as possible. - Some changes have been made to some haunted mansion scenes. - The cub cars are going away for awhile but will probably be back. This is where the Rock O Plane will go (between Phoenix and Fandango). The ride will not open on opening day. - They replaced a lot of sections of the flume. It will open around Memorial Day. - Paratrooper and the Teacups are both undergoing restorations and will open later in the year. - Sky Slide is coming back after being closed since the start of the Pandemic. It may not reopen this year but it will finally reopen. Hopefully no lawyer actually looks at it. -They've done a bunch of track work on the three wood coasters but that's to be expected.
