TheStig
HAHAHAHA ANAL TURN! Thats great, its even better that you didnt know you took the picture like that! Blackpool looks like a really cool park just because it appears that everything is just jammed in there and it fits! And how is the Grand National now with its shiny new PTC trains? robbalvey
And how is the Grand National now with its shiny new PTC trains? Colin C Just as awesome as it was before. No different really, which is a good thing! All that INSANE airtime is still there and it's just as easy to "interact" with the other train. I love the ride. It's easily a top ten woodie for me. --Robb
CoasterFanatic
^ I never rode with the old trains, but the new ones felt really stiff to me. I also kept getting stapled on the painfull jackhammer moments. In the end, Grand National probably did more damage to my body than anything else on the trip (including the wheel). Don't know if Steve wants to chime in here, but I think he had a pretty strong opinion on the subject.

I'd assume they are a bit heavier then the older trains, but Im glad nothing really changed! Colin C

Don't know if Steve wants to chime in here, but I think he had a pretty strong opinion on the subject. Interesting. This is now the 3rd revision of Nash trains I've ridden in the past 10 years and for my limited knowledge of the ride (only about 25 visits to BPB over the past 10 years) the ride really hasn't changed that much to me. I know some other locals might have different opinions as they visit the park on a fairly regular basis, but to me the ride has always had some VERY "aggressive" moments to it that IMO rival those of SFOG's Cyclone. Personally I feel the ride to be a lot "smoother" in the non-aggressive parts, but a HELL of a lot more intense in the parts that are. I normally would not like a rougher woodie, but I don't consider Grand National "rough" in the same sense I consider GhostRider, Mean Streak, or Ex-Hercules bone jarring, teeth rattling rough. It's a lot more like the aggressive moments of SFOG's Cyclone and it has never really performed any differently since my first visit to BPB in 1996. It's certainly NOT a wheel seat ride and I find it has a lot of those OMFG moments that I wish other woodies would have. --Robb "It was interesting riding the old Grand National trains on Southport's Cyclone!" sfmman2000
AT first I thought you were kidding, then I saw your post count. What does my post count have to do with anything? I thought of canal, but it didn't make sense as to why they would have a sign saying that.
Ed
Grand National has some insane airtime in places. I haven't been on the new trains, but last November it was running amazing, plus I had someone of a larger persuation sat next to me, and with the lapbar going across both people I had a good few inches to fly out of my seat. One of the only times i've grabbed a lapbar with the fear of being ejected.... I really hope the new trains are ok!

CoasterFanatic
Interesting. This is now the 3rd revision of Nash trains I've ridden in the past 10 years and for my limited knowledge of the ride (only about 25 visits to BPB over the past 10 years) the ride really hasn't changed that much to me. I am not doubting your knowledge of the ride, It just wasn't quite what I was expecting. I have been riding a pair of Miller woodies since birth and they never felt like THAT. It just seemed like the new trains may have been a little more rigid. They don't have that flex that the old beaten up trains seem to have. The seat padding may also be different, but that is an entirely different argument. The same is true of the new trains on the Racer at Kennywood, but because of it's snoozer pace, you don't really even notice it. I did ride on the wheels a decent bit on the Nash, but it still just felt a little more "jarring" than I expected. Maybe I just set my expectations a little too high, but I don't think I was the only one.

theatretony
Looks like you had a great time over here in England.... This is my first post, so please be gentle !!!!! I come from Leeds, UK and I am really glad you enjoyed the UK - we have some good themeparks over here... I went to Flamingoland a couple of weekends ago, and really liked the Kumali coaster, but found the Tidal Wave the most boring ride ever... When you are all in the UK next, let me know........ Oh, I've said that sixteen times already? Okay. Can't wait to see more! BTW, that three-way gropage pic needs to be on the "Girls of TPR" calendar. Just so ya know. WillMontu
Robb might be interested to know that I didn't lose any of my tickets. I've got maps from all the parks too (the parks that had them) The Alton Towers map was also notable, mainly for the RCT look A few people wanted to see the Blackpool Pleasure Beach map. I've got a stray hotel key (not sure how I got that), British pounds, a Donkey pen, a used Elissa Bingo card, a Balder hammer, some British Rail passes, some "front of the line" passes, and a few wristbands. I wonder how much these would fetch on eBay in
