The United Kingdom of Chaos

Recommended Posts

I have played RCT2 for about 3 years now, but had never realised the creative potential when it comes to building scenery until I arrived at this site a couple of months back (and finding out what the shift key does!). Having then browsed a couple of other RCT sites too, and seeing some amazing parks, I thought I may as well give it a go too!

Three points to make...

1. This is the first park I have started building from scratch (scenario editor).

2. I have resisted using custom scenery/trainers so far, but feel soon I will need them to improve the park.

And 3. I have a habit of constructing symmetrical/blocky buildings, so don't be too harsh on them!

This is a resort type park in the UK (hence it’s name) and I have yet to build anything inside the actual theme park so far. I have completed the hotels, car parks, road entrance, park entrance, HQ, park maintenance and staff areas.

I'll start by posting the road entrance...

…Which goes through the (fake) mountain....

...…to the multi storey car park area.

for some reason the pictures switched places after I previewed the post. so, just to rectify, the entrance goes through the mountain and then to the car park.

Anyway, on to the park's premier hotel, Mystic Manor. A large tudor building with an indoor swimming pool set in scenic grounds. I will make the balconies smaller when I delve into the custom scenery sites.

Here is the hotel's very own entrance to the park. No doubt the guests will have exclusive early entry to the park before the official opening times!

The hotel also has it's very own private beach, ideal for the annual 25 minutes sunshine we have here in the UK! Also a bar/cafe and changing rooms.

Thanks for the kind comments. I have a long way to go to be as good as zburns and soren though. Their parks are architecturally brilliant and they are also good at building their parks to scale. Having seen some other rct forums, my park would probably be ripped to shreds in 2 seconds! I’m also not very knowledgeable about coaster manufacturers or types of supports they use. I feel I need to try building some less square buildings too. For what I have planned for my ‘main street’ area, I should be able to learn more about that.

Back to the park as it is now. I had left a nice big space near to the car parks, so I thought the park should have an HQ/staff/service type of area.

This is a picture of the HQ and admin/office building. This would be the place for staff/management meetings, finances, staff recruitment, construction deals and all the other boring, behind the scenes stuff.

And here is the park service/maintenance area. In the foreground is a large yard and greenhouse for growing all the wonderful plants and shrubs that you’ll see inside the park. The large building is a warehouse/factory used for building, maintaining and storing of objects such as benches, signage and animatronics. It is also used for planning and testing of rides/scenery.

Here is the resort's almost no frills hotel, Knights Inn, although it does have an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and hillside waterfall view.

Next up will be the theme park's main entrance and an overview of the outside of the theme park so far.

The main entrance to the park... I originally built a tudor style entrance but didn't feel it gave the ominous atmosphere I wanted to create, so I started again. This time I built something simple and dark, with some flames to make it look more menacing. The castle towers finish off the medieval style. I may add a little more colour or some info boards soon as I feel it needs just a little something extra.

Entrance gates to the top right...

Entrance gates to the bottom right...

Entering the Entrance plaza!....

Close up of Entrance gates...

Side walls...

And finally an overview of the outside of the theme park so far...

Two part update!

The first part is Londinium (old name for London). This is the 'main street' area of the park.

Within the large buildings is a twisting coaster with five inversions, named The Great Fire.

There are also two slow areas which lead to boosters for that element of surprise.

Within the large green building with the brown roof is a pirate ship. There are also plenty of shopping and eating areas within the buildings.

I have also built in an underground transport system which stops at other points of the park.

Here are 4 views of the 'main street' area of the Londinium zone.

This building is City Hall. The entrance for The Great Fire is located behind this.

The red building is a recreation of a typical London Underground station and is, obviously, where the entrance to the train is.

...The next update will be for the Temple area of the park...

This is some of the best work I've seen outside of NE or RCT2.com in a while. You seem to have a great deal of skill when it comes to larger buildings, something I'm not very good at, so I envy anyone who can do it lol. Anyway, I think that in a way though, the size of the archy detracts from realism, and the "little" things that can make a park realistic. I would like to see this in game though to see if I can pick up on anything I'm missing in the screens. I can't say I love the coaster you're showing, but it's surroundings are very good, so I don't care all that much. Nice work. Deffinitely keep us up to date on this. Looks like your putting in a nice amount of effort.

P.S. Just being picky, but there is something weird about how "The United Kingdom of Chaos," sounds. Doesn't sound too family oriented. Just my two cents. Happy building.

Thanks for the comments!

Things I have learnt since starting this park...

1. Select the scenery you wish to use carefully.

2. I need more windows.

3. "What's a support blocker, I don't need one of those" Yes I do!

4. I have no need for an Inca statue nor a Chinese pagoda.

Also, I think it's a real shame the makers of this game didn't carry it on further. They should have integrated it to work with RCT3 to allow 2 different views of the same park. I would also have loved to create the interiors of the buildings and set lighting/physical effects, etc.

I had the idea that my indoor pirate ship would be inside a Soarin' style movie screen dome with added enhancements such as wind and water spray. The same goes for the coaster, but with fire effects (similar to Revenge of the Mummy). I'm a big fan of heavily themed rides. Anyway, that is the theory behind the rides so far.

Part two.

This next section of the park is called Temple. It is part of the Londinium isle and The Great Fire goes through one of its buildings. There are three rides situated here.

Trebuchet – Topspin ride.

The Royal Derby – Double Decker carousel.

Vertigo! At The Temple – Drop tower ride. (Inspired by the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, with whom I share the same place of birth.)

There is also another station to hop on to the Underground trains.

The small building at bottom centre houses The Royal Derby. To the bottom right is Trebuchet complete with water sprays.

Temple area from another angle.

Closer shot of Vertigo! at The Temple. The ride begins underground.
