mcjaco
OK, so I'm a devoted Cub fan (thanks Dad) that's been cherring for the Cubbie Blue for over 31 years now. In that span the "Lovable Losers" have gone to the playoffs 4 times......FOUR stinking times. It pains me to think that there's a 15 year old Brave fan that doesn't have any idea that a team can't make the playoffs. Anyway, this year I decided against purchasing any tickets to show my disgust with the Tribune Company for pulling the wool over our eyes for the past 20 some odd years. They won't get my money....yeah that will show them. My buddy, however, still clings onto the hopelessness and gets ten games worth of tickets every year, just in case. Whatever, these guys are miserable. So, he's got an extra ticket and asks me so, naturally, after a two game winning streak I'm feeling pretty good (their first since August of last year) and I relent. Seriously, I might as well jab pencils in my eyes, it would be less painful. Here we go: (I magically posted these pics backwards.....I'm a Photo TR virgin, be gentle.) The statue of Harry Carry, the most overated sportscaster of all time. Note the sun beams, I think it's photographic proof that the Tribune Company is still trying to blow sunshine up Harry's buttocks. The famed Marquee. Hmmm, seems to be at a loss for words....as is the rest of Cub Nation. I will admit still the prettiest scoreboard in the bigs. I will note that the Cubs make this easy for the guys working out there. They just have to make sure not to run out of zeros. Man I did get here early. Better get that buzz going, it eases the misery of watching. Here's to you! This is for Wally. Quite a view from the nosebleeds. Look at that cell tower array. And yet, they are more interesting to watch than the Cubs. Let the drinking begin, we've got two hits through 7 innings! No better sight than baseball under the lights. It hasn't helped the Cubs, they still stink. As I walk out in disgust...again, I snap one more picture. I won't be back this year you stinky ass clowns. Blue0ctane
Good to see that I'm not the only one that posts baseball PTRs!
mcjaco
They keep "improving" Wrigley so, I figured I better get some pictures before it really changes. The bleachers were completely redone this year and were digusting named "The Budweiser Bleachers." Glad to see commercialism seeping into the last stadium to steer clear of it. I still play semi-ish pro ball. It's the one thing I can't get enough of.
Blue0ctane
Now that's cool. Maybe you can give me some tips on how to recognize the curveball.
mcjaco
Make daily sacrifices to Jobu. Just watch the pitcher's release (easier said then done), the hand grips the ball off to the side rather than from behind (like fastballs) and, they flick the wrist. They're taught to actually snap their fingers at the release point. Then pick out the spin of the ball. The laces tend to rotate horizontally. And do that all in four tenths of a second!!! trustkill22
This August I should have a PTR of Comerica Park in D-Town. This is one park me and my brother always talk about its old schoolness and the sweet back wall.
smells_like_team_disney
Awesome pics, I love Wrigley Field . Thanks for posting. It's too bad about the commercialization of the stadium, it really is a great ballpark. But as long as they don't rename it Budweiser Field (no offense, Wally ) I can't complain too much. mcjaco
^Thanks. In the last three years I've been to games at Dodger Stadium, Jacobs Field, Yankee Stadium, Chase Field and Miller Field. I've "visited" Coors Field and Huber H. Humphrey Metrodome. I'm off to Jacobs Field in two weeks...perhaps another PTR. I will do a large PTR of WDW when I go there this fall to make up for my Random PTRs'.
BelizeIt
Hey Mcjaco don't lose the faith! My hometown team the Redsox finally won it all after how many decades??? The Cubs are one of the most beloved teams in Baseball, their time will come soon. By the way, is there still any angst over the infamous Steve Bartman? Whatever happened to that guy? Did he join the witness protection program, or is he still "living" in your state?
rollermonkey
Cool to see pics of one of the most hallowed halls of baseball. I'm moving to Chicagoland later this year, how hard is it to get tickets to Wrigley? I'll gladly see games there, but I'll never visit the Evil Empire, regardless of it's history! (Another BoSox fan, right here!)
Eunuch Provocateur
The Dodgers last won the World Series in 1988--my birth year. I just started following them this year with that sinking feeling that, by the end of the season, they will suck. It seemed to happen last year too, as far as I can remember. They can be all 1st\2nd place and then shit ALWAYS happens and poof. But I will give the Cubs credit for being cursed by an MF'in goat.

Did he join the witness protection program, or is he still "living" in your state? Real fans know that Alex Gonzalez's miffed grounder caused the melt down, not Bartman. My wife is friends with his cousin and I've met him a couple of times. He was a doofus before the "incident." He has been in hiding since then though. As for the tickets, they're tough to get which is part of my dismay with the organization. If we keep filling the stands, why put a good product out there? The Tribune is making money hand over fist because of this stupidity. 1988, was awesome. I loved that Dodgers team. How can you not remember Kirk Gibson's homer?!!! BelizeIt
Hey Majaco, I see that you've had a great chance to visit various stadiums on both the East + West coast. But, when are you going to visit the Hollowed Grounds of Fenway Park? Sure you may have to skip a car payment or two just for tickets, but Cub fans are always welcomed with open arms in Boston. BeemerBoy
^Yeah, no kidding. I had to put a kidney on Ebay for these seats. Okay, well maybe not really...I had a friend in the .406 club who I scored the tickets from. But had I bought 'em, the kidney thing would've been the only way considering the Yanks were in town playing on ESPN sunday night baseball. Still may have been worth it though. mcjaco
I'd love to got to Fenway as that would complete the trifecta of "original" ballparks. One of these days......one of these days......I hope it's nicer than Yankee Stadium, I was rather disappointed in it. Way too much hyp for what I thought was a dump. BelizeIt
Well the problem with these older Baseball Parks, is that they often lack many of the amenities of the newer generation of Baseball stadiums. Even though Fenway Park is an older Baseball Stadium, the current ownership seems determined to keep it. Every off-season, the new owners have made improvements and will continue to do so for years to come. As for the Yankee Stadium, it doesn't surprise me that you were disappointed, given that the Yankees + their Stadium + their Fans are all part of the Evil Empire! Go Redsox!!!
