I rode Ravine Flyer II once yesterday, and it was even better than I imagined. I haven't ridden any other Gravity Group coasters, but this made a fan out of me! Fast paced, awesome air, and plenty of twists and curves. The airtime was particularly great on the bridge over the road. Perfect "floater" air. The pacing of the ride was excellent, with no real slow spots. One little side note, though. A little confusion was generated by the fact that you do not buy Ravine Flyer II tickets at the ticket booth, you can only buy them at the ride's entrance. the ride cost 3 tickets, at 1.50 apiece, so 4.50 per ride. I'll get some pics up soon.

I just found some old 1991 footage from Waldameer on a VHS tape. Going to throw it up on YouTube later this week.

It's good to be back home after today because it didn't go liked I hoped. When I arrived at Waldameer this morning I wasn't feeling nervous, sick, or tired, but nature would have a different plan for me. I had three great first rides on this coaster. It totally blew me away and I loved it. However, after my fourth ride I started to feel a little sick, but like a tough coaster junky I thought nothing of it. Then the fifth and sixth rides came and I thought I wouldn't be able to keep my food down, so I asked for someone to switch out with me. After a few circuits I jumped back in in hopes of redeeming myself, but I was only able to stomach four more trips around and then I had to get off. I really felt bad (naturally and mentally) because there were other people there who could stomach the coaster and I should have known better to think that I could handle it. I guess I didn't expect this coaster to be an extreme woodie. I got to admit it was funny seeing that bird flying out of the third tunnel and almost hitting Robb...

I'll try to post my pictures from Sunday. As you can probably tell, the park was pretty much empty with no waits for virtually any ride (including the new one)! This was likely due to the cold, wind, and scattered rain throughout the day. We happened to get over to the park when it was relatively sunny and not so cold, luckily. We only rode it the one time, but are planning to go back in a couple of weeks, so I may have a more extensive TR then. now for some pics:

Only one criticism that would make this day even better... if they would send out trains more than every five minutes. Literally from stop in the station, to go, was five minutes in-between runs, and the blue train was parked in transfer.

That really disappointed me as well. I stopped in on Saturday on my way to Cedar Point. Probably no more then 100-200 people in line, and it was a 45+ minute wait.

Hopefully it's just a matter of getting the hang of operating it.

I thought the ride was pretty good, just not nearly as intense as Hades or Voyage, but that was too be expected. Plus I only got to ride once in the middle of the train. Didn't have time to wait through the line again.

^^I talked to Robb for all of about 4 minutes today, but I didn't hear the bird story!!! Please elaborate!!!

Well this story evolved over several runs where everybody kept talking about a bird flying out of the last tunnel every time the train entered it (the bird must of had a nest in there). I only saw the bird once while I was riding towards the back and as the first half of the train entered I saw the silhouette of the bird racing the train out of the tunnel. Robb then said at lunch that he could see the bird almost flying right beside his head as the train went through the tunnel.

Pretty much, there was a bird hanging out in the second tunnel after the bridge and literally on about 15 or so runs, the bird would get scared from the noise and fly away. But instead of it flying away from the train, it was literally playing target practice with our heads. There were a lot of close calls and I thought somebody was bound to hit it but luckily no one did.

I actually just got home and was just coming on to thank Robb for the great experience. Ravine Flyer 2 was an AMAZING coaster and I'd definitely urge everyone to take a trip up to Waldameer this summer to experience it (just watch out for that damned bird!). Thanks again to Robb and TPR in general for making this happen, it was a great day and I'm really glad I was able to experience it.

I'll try to get some pictures I took up later on, but right now I'm going to bed because I'm exhausted!

Hey everyone!

I just got back to the hotel...it's LATE...so I'll just post a few pics. I want to say thank you to everyone who made it out to the filming session today and a very BIG thank you to everyone who lasted the whole RF2 run!

At 52 laps it was quite the marathon, but I think we got a LOT of great footage out of it.

I'll be posting some of the B-Roll shots soon and a full update, but here's a few pics to hold you over....

Looking great Robb, can't wait to see the finished product.

Question for you Robb. Are you going to be making an actual DVD that can be purchased from our day at Waldameer or just a copy in general of the footage you took? I'm sure everyone else is wondering the same thing, but I figured I would be the first to ask.

Also do you have any problem with us using any of these photos with us in them for our personal use, like uploading them to our facebook or something similar to that? Just wanted to ask to before doing something I'll later regret. lol

Seriously though, great pictures. I loved Waldameer when I went last year and this just really makes me want to go back.

I thought The Voyage was the TGG coaster that everyone was so adamantly split on? The Bullet has never ranked very high. I only know of one person on TPR that puts it in the top 10 (Texcoaster).

I can't wait to ride RFII. While the Bullet is my home coaster, my anticipation for riding RFII, El Toro and many other woodies I haven't ridden has not died, it has just risen! I'm glad TGG has made a more accessible coaster. From what I hear about The Voyage, and from first hand experience with the Bullet, they are pretty darn rough. The TPR RFII crew would have DIED had they gone 52 laps on either of them. Heck, half of the TPR crew was almost dead after riding The Bullet a dozen times!

You have much to learn. I seriously doubt that any of the "Texas Fanboys" care which of TGG's coasters Robb prefers. They only get upset when some idiot attempts to tell them that THEY didn't really like it that much, either, and are over-hyping it due to local bias. You know, local bias, like a multi-page thread about them turning on some waterfall at SFMM, or whining to the management about the removal of a tilt-a-whirl over and over in a TPR video....

See?

Probably the craziest thing I've done and after some thinking I'm beginning to like RFII more than Voyage. I've gotten some crazy night rides on Voyage and I really hope to get back out to Waldameer when they are open later in the evening to catch a few night rides.

It was an awesome experience all around and much thanks to the park and TPR for doing this. I can't wait to see the end results.

When Voyage came out, it was, but since it debut, it has gotten a little rougher. That being said, I still love it and I bet quite a few people still do. And I am going to ride it 20 some times this weekend.

Yesterday was unbelievable. 52 consecutive laps. The day surpassed all of my expectations. I thought I might ride a few times here and there, but Other than moving around the train occasionally, I never got up, other than to eat and well, you know. Waldameer was nice enough to treat us all to Applebees for lunch. In terms of intensity and pure craziness, I still have to give my vote to Voyage, but I can't ride that more than a handful of times. This is very reridable. If needed, I could have stayed on much longer.

I prefer the left side of the train in the back seat. Of the 10 airtime moments, i think 4 felt like ejector. Keep in mind that it was cold. So this could be different with warmer weather. I only had three rides in the very back seat and it was the first 3 rides, so I wasn't yet paying attention to the details. That being said, I recall there being good air over the hills. I didn't get any front seat rides and will defiantly go back sometime this summer. The 2 biggest laterals in my opinion were the right turn just after the first drop and the right turn going up through the turnaround. The 90 degree turn is of course amazing. This is a very well paced ride that is non-stop from beginning to end. The view is pretty sweet too. There is much to see and you have to ride it a few times to really get a good look around.

Most of my rides were toward the front due to my morning purchase of a red Ravine flyer T-shirt. I have transition lenses in my glasses, so the guy if you see a guy in the pics from Saturday in a red shirt with what appear to be sunglasses, it's me. Rob did a great job and I can't believe some of the places he stood to get video.

Thank You Rob for this wonderful opportunity. I would love to be apart of any of these that you do in the future.

I certainly do have much to learn, but that was meant as a joke. I personally look forward to making my first trip to Texas sometime next year and riding everything that state has to offer.
