^ That's not the worst I've experienced. A group of ACErs at CoasterMania 2011 tried to force me to leave the TTD queue because I didn't like Maverick. They told me I didn't deserve the greatness that was Intamin.

A couple of comments. I found MF to be disappointing and overrated. My top 3 I find phenomenal and Maverick is in my overall top 3. Gemini is a pretty fun family coaster and Corkscrew packs in a nice punch. I prefer Mantis over Green Lantern any day of the week.

Sorry guys, but I've never enjoyed Maverick. I've ridden it many times, and I've only had ONE ride where I didn't walk off with a killer headache from all of the times my head hits the restraints. Before anyone asks, I've ridden it in nearly every seat and all six trains. It's a ride I was so hyped up for when it was under construction and beat the crap out of me when I first rode it opening year. Shun me if you wish.

 

It is a bit rough, but it beats you up in the best way possible. It is probably my favorite coaster, and it seems absolutely crazy that you would put ID, Woodstock, etc. above it. Are you really tall or something or just sensitive to headbanging?

I rode Maverick for the first time in June--well, quite a few times--and never had a problem with roughness or the restraints.

^I actually noticed for the first time this year that the restraints can be slightly uncomfortable when they tighten down, but it doesn't affect my love for the ride. It seemed less violent overall this year. In 2011, it left bruises all over my neck, even though I was intuitively riding just as defensively as I do now. It was also overly intense in the front row, which now seems just right! I think I even put my hands up this year without getting chopped in the arm.

EDIT- Really, I'd call TTD and Maverick a tie. Maverick is one of the best steel coasters there is, and yes TTD is a one-trick pony, but OMFG I love that launch more than anything on any other coaster- except Kingda Ka's launch- which is even better!

 

I must also add that I've ridden GateKeeper twice- both rides were in seats with unlocked vests. It still sucked.

I know it's become the hip thing among some to rag on Magnum, but honestly, SEVEN moments of intense airtime right in a row, with no filler at all in between. Tell me what other coaster offers that? Also, I really, really like CCMR. And I really, really hate Corkscrew. If they're going to bother keeping it around, why not get better trains for it? Those restraints are awful, they hurt my neck before the ride even began. Also, I rode Green Lantern (SFGA) this year, and although I was too tired to really enjoy it (stand-up coasters always feel like running a marathon to me), I enjoyed it much more than Mantis. They're very similar but I didn't get nearly as much head banging on GL... no idea why that would be.

 

Oh, and I rode Gate Keeper early in the season... I didn't find it to be overly rough like some have said, but the vest was so utterly, utterly terrible that I could hardly focus on anything else. I didn't really notice it till the brake run, but it was seriously like my whole abdomen was being crushed in a vice. Easily the worst restraints I've ever experienced, even worse than Corkscrew (and yes, Skyrush), the only reason it doesn't rank as low is it didn't also give me whiplash/headbanging. Since they've fixed that issue I can't wait to go back and give it another go, though I doubt it'll slip much further up in my rankings. Because, as it's been repeatedly said, it is rather dull. I liked the keyholes though. The keyholes save it.
