cfc
I personally think this is such a stupid person for someone to get arrested. If the area is blocked off and there are no trespassing signs everywhere then ok. But if the beach is "open" with no signs then this is stupid. While this defiantly isn't safe by any means, I feel like people/police should be more worried about looters and vandals then someone climbing to the top of a coaster and placing an american flag. Er, OK. I'm pretty sure this guy did violate a few laws by swimming out to and climbing on a partially submerged, probably unstable structure. Hilltopper39
If I was going to climb a dilapidated coaster partially submerged in the ocean because it fell off a pier during a hurricane with the intentions of hanging an American flag in some sort of weird patriotic salute I would have found a way to drag a case of fireworks up there with me. If your gonna do it, do it big.....

SharkTums
His mother says the 38-year-old lives at his grandmother's home in Lavallette. This is all you need from the article. Oh, and replace 'home' with 'basement'. Let's be fair, a lot of displaced people are currently living with relatives. I do take exception with anyone calling his antic patriotic. I stand by my comment...$100 says he was ALREADY living in the basement before the storm!

I stand by my comment...$100 says he was ALREADY living in the basement before the storm! http://gawker.com/chris-angelo/ Speaking with News 12 New Jersey, the mother of 38-year-old Chris Angelo of Lakewood said he had been displaced by Superstorm Sandy and was seeking to draw attention to Jersey Shore recovery efforts. Diane Angulo said her son, a tree service owner, had planned to remain atop the coaster for several days, but State Police managed to talk him down after only a short while. I'll take my $100 in McDoubles and Sweet Tea. McDoubles plain, no ketchup please. EDIT: In a bit of irony it appears his company is named Tsunami Tree Service. cfc
^ It was reported that the worker was intoxicated at the time and had a half-full bottle of Camarena Tequila tucked into his work belt. The man's name was not released and it is unclear how he got stuck in the tree. My guess is that his getting stuck in the tree had something to do with the tequila. DJeXeL
Quite possibly. Thus why I used the term "idiot." Either way they're both stupid.
coastercrazy 9
Coming from someone who lives in New Jersey, and helped clean up the most hardly hit places, I can say that looting is much a larger problem than a guy climbing this coaster. We had to stay within the National Guards eyesight because of the situatation, and ended up buying them lunch for helping us.
ArundelHigh Coasters
Even though there may not be a law against it, I still think the man should have been arrested. It's not safe to climb a coaster, and especially a coaster like Star Jet. He was also intoxicated, and could have fell off, and God forbid died. As stupid as this may sound to you, this probably saved this guy from possibly accidentaly killing himself.
larrygator
Trespassing is illegal. Entering the beach and ocean in this area is trespassing. There are signs in the area stating this. Even without signs, everyone in the Seaside Heights area already knows this. Edited January 10, 2013 by larrygator

Hollowgraves
Just an update for 2013.... Despite the destruction of most of Funtown Pier, Hollowgraves Haunted Manor survived with no damage to the structure. That being said, the Haunted Manor will no longer be located on Funtown Pier or within Seaside Heights. Even if Funtown ever reopens, we are no longer associated with them in any way. We will however be announcing our new location for 2013 in the very near future. We invite everybody to follow us on Facebook where we will be making our announcement soon! https://www.facebook.com/HollowgravesHauntedManor

StarWars
http://news.yahoo.com/photos/nj-roller-coaster-hit-by-sandy-removed-slideshow/ The article says it's unfortunate to see the ride go. They claim it's iconic. Perhaps by iconic, they are referring to where and how the coaster ended following the storm, because, yes, those pictures are some of the most iconic following the storm. Judging by the joy in regards to this coaster's death (at least on TPR), I don't see how (before its demise) Jet Star would be considered iconic.
