robbalvey
Hey everyone! So for some people who didn't get the memo that the Six Flags Magic Mountain Tatsu Media Day Camp Out had been pushed back, we ended up had some friends in town. Ok, well, actually they weren't that stupid, they just weren't able to change their flights for the new date! But away way, we had a good time up at the mountain today. Here are a few pics from our visit...... And also, Joe's version of the Photo TR can be found here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=172781 OMG! It's an EXCLUSIVE...SIGNATURE SHOT of Mr. Exclusivity himeself...Rollerman "Signature Shot" Dan!!!! And just in case you ever wondered what it was like to be a drinking straw, looking upward from the bottom of the cup...now you know! Looks like someone took a wrong turn. Ahh, we pay homage to Scream...the best ever parking lot coaster! "Welcome to Six Flags Magic Mountain.....GO ARMY!!!!" Looks like they were installing some kind of secret spy-bot device on Tatsu....or that could just be the onride photo machine..... Anyone want to eat at the "Laughing Drag?" Is it just me or have they already cast Carlos for the part of "White Green Lantern?" Theme Park Review auditions as characters for the Justice League! Eric LOVES the big, giant....um...letter "I"...yeah the letter "i"...that's EXACTLY what that looks like! You know....Goliath is kind of like a parking lot coaster too..... Eric loves those long sustained moments of floater air. Heh....Joe is "sad and pathetic." He rides alone because he has no friends. Tatsu looks like a flying coaster from here. From anywhere else it looks like a sponge. "It might not be SFOG's brand spanking new one, but at least I like the color orange....yeah....orange....nice...I like that....." Time for the original Goliath. "At least if it vallies they've buit a nice platform for us to hang out at." From X you can really see how small and inferior Revolution must feel next to Tatsu. It was time for Eric to get devirginized on X. Our first ride of the day! Creepy unicycle mime guy with a fancy umbrella! Eric and Joe are WAY thrilled! A bunch of small children exploded into confetti (an effect we were all very impressed with) and then it was time to ride! And then the "Welcome to Six Flags" parade vehicle came out complete with characters and the Justice League! They had a couple of people getting the crowd pumped up for their day.... Since when did they start doing a little pre-park opening show??? Wow! Even on a non-busy weekday, they had ALL of the metal detectors open! And finally....we end this little update with the "new" look of the park's entrance plaza.... We'll see everyone on May 10th for the Tatsu Media Day Campout! "Hey, c'mon guys...please leave me out of this!" "What do you mean the Tatsu media day isn't today??? The Egg Turn over there told us we could ride!" FlippyTrick09
NIce update I like how SIx Flags is changing now. The before park opening parade thing looks cool. Tatsu is looking nice. I might have to go out there and ride it. (even if I had to walk! ) Hope yall had fun- Mitchell

Luxo
At Magic Springs's opening ceremony, the last Don Rosser coaster operates at its best depending on the quality of our human sacrifice.
cfc
Hmm--SFMM's Batman has the Michael Keaton/Val Kilmer/George Clooney cowl with the Adam West suit. "Holy fashion faux pas, Batman!" Oh, the irony--I'll be driving right past Tatsu on I-5 on my way to the Anaheim HoJo's after my niece's wedding in August. Probably won't get back to Valencia to check it out. I must have a 100 drive-bys of SFMM since the last time I visited the place (when Revolution still ruled). But I'm looking forward to getting back to Disneyland again; haven't been there since 2001. DerekRx
Looks like you guys had a good time despite not getting to ride Tatsu. (BTW, its pronounced like 'Taught Sue' ) I'm shocked at the old school Batman dude, as well as Carlos, El Lanterno Verde!
cfc
^I have no problem with the "old-school" Bat, but they need to get him the proper cowl. I suspect the Joker is behind this!
Beate's Freak
LUCKY!!!! Tatsu is looking awesome. To bad the park changed its ways the year I move from Cali to Texas. But hey I got Superman: Krypton Coaster. Very nice update.

sixflagsmagicmountain
Hey Robb. That was me that said Hi to you on Goliath today. Oh, and an employee informed me today that Tatsu is in fact, pronounced Tazu. I don't know where he learned english. You'd think that considering he works at the park, he would at least know how to pronounce the new coasters name. I just thought that was kind of funny. Oh and I ran into Dan today, and someone from Coaster Realm, I don't remember his name though. It was a great day today, there were no crowds and I was able to ride everything. I looked for you after I got off Goliath Robb, but I couldn't find you. Oh well, I guess I should see you at media day in 2 weeks.
Mr. Volcano
Ok, is it me or does Robb and Robin look alike? Great pics. I need to get my butt out to the west coast! I think alot of the superheros look alike. Maybe Robb has secret clones that are secretly superheros, OR, Robb is in a clan of superheros Anyways nice update, I'm sure everyone who is able to attend Tatsu media day will be pleased, it looks awesome. I wonder if you can actually EAT the egg turn on Tatsu. *scratches head* -Justin

I always feel bad not knowing who everyone is, but at least now I know what you look like. They let us stay on Goliath so we didn't get off the train. We looked for you guys the rest of the day but never saw you again. I had to leave around noon to head to work, but Eric and Joe stayed the rest of the day. See you again at the camp out! --Robb
live2tell75
Hi everyone- As you can tell from the pictures we had a great time. I have waited so long to go to Magic Mountain, and it was well worth it! X- what can I say? I did not know what side was up! Goliath - I think we rode about 5 times and ties with X as my fav coaster at the park. We were lucky, the park was really empty and we got to ride everything a bunch of times. We even went on both flumes and a lot of the flats! I haven't been on a round up (Gear Works) since I was a kid! A lot of fun! Robb & Joe, it was fun hanging out with you guys today. Joe, it was nice to meet you and hope you made it back to Atlanta safely. Hopefully we will get to hang out at SFOG in the near future. Elissa, thanks for joining us on Batman and at In & Out Burger for dinner. Hope your class tonight was fun & interesting. When I return to Florida tomorrow I will post some of my pictures too. Till then, X & Goliath rule! -Eric J (the other eric johnson)

Timmyuk
Hi i'm form the UK I have been reading Theme Park Review for a while and its great and sometimes hilarious, i now have to post and its because of, Car park Coasters???????? (or should i say parking lot coasters) What is going on there? the lines of where the cars parked are still on the ground and they just stuck it on top, there seems to be a few Coasters at this park like that and it seems like a major park, Tatsu coming an all, whats the deal????? You all seem to think this is normal? Last time i visited the US i didnt see any car park Coasters is it a new theme or something, i am joking. You all seem to think this is normal? Last time i visited the US i didnt see any car park Coasters is it a new theme or something, i am joking. haha, well you see, a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, the previous owners of six flags decided that having as many rollercoasters as possible was much better than the overall park experience for patrons. in fact, they loved the patrons so much, they decided to place these rides in places that required no earth prep work so as to save the patrons some money....hahah, actually to be honest, this whole talk about parking lot coasters aka car park posters is an on-going joke around here. magic mountain, in all its glory, was so lazy i guess, they didnt even theme their 16th rollercoaster, they just threw it down in the parking lot so they could say they had the record for the most in the world. regardless of the reasoning, its quite ugly, and embarassing for those of us who really love magic mountain. this is NOT normal for american parks, and it is unlikely to happen at a six flags park again since new management has taken over. its too bad too, Scream is a good ride. Timmyuk
Thanks for clearing that up, that is crazy though, just to throw it in the car park, whats even worse is, like you say, its a good ride, it certainly looks like a good ride and not exactly cheap in itself but its surroundings do, easily ruin most good Coasters by sticking them in a car park. The best bit is they didnt even remove the lines from the parking lot to show you where to park, how difficult and expensive could that be to do, made not attempt to cover up its in a parking lot. Maybe now its got new managment they may attempt a theme for it, atleast remove the painted lines on the ground. I thought something must be up because why make Tatsu and the effort and expense that required when one of there Coasters is parked next to your car for theming.
