The City of Myrtle Beach has ideas in mind for making use of the former Pavilion Amusement Park site.

The Downtown Redevelopment Corporation will be leasing the eleven-acre lots from Burroughs and Chapin Co. to use it for summer festivals. The city already has Cinco De Mayo and Memorial Day events planned for the site, but first, it needs to be cleaned up.

"As with any site where a building or structures have been torn down, there's glass and rebar and a little bit of concrete both on the surface and maybe underneath the surface," said Koribrett Turner-Vaught, Downtown Redevelopment Corporation.

Turner-Vaught says the city has taken bids from a handful of firms to do the cleanup work. She says the city wants the site to be used not just for festivals, but for families to have picnics and enjoy the view.

^ And that is exactly what he did, he added a news story pertaining to this forum about the fate of MBP.

Unfortunately it wont be made into another park, but at least it wont just sit there like an eye sore.

As long as it does not turn into Freestyle Families and Festival Park.
