Mountain Creek's Water Park?

A company called Intrawest took over the property known as Mountain Creek. The company has other properties that have turned out very nice. http://www.intrawest.com/index.htm

They have really concentrated on the property's lodging adding a very nice hotel. Honestly, the place within five years will be unrecognizable. The plans include major expansions;...stores, restaurants and several more hotels. This could only mean water park/ski resort expansion as well. They seem to have really big plans for the place. As of right now, they have not really added a whole lot since it was action park (who was known for their dangerous and crazy slides, and looping water slide!) In 2003 they added one of the first funnels. check out the link for some pictures. http://themeparks.about.com/cs/waterparks/a/highanxiety.htm

All in all, I think that it's a decent park with some potential; the biggest of which, in my opinion, is it being built into the mountain and the ability the park has to use the terrain for its attractions.

Like any park in NJ, it can have it's ghetto days. Vernon/Sussex County; where it is situated, is probably the most removed least ghetto place in NJ (mostly woods and farm land...including some crazy cows but you'll have to ask robb and elissa about those), having lived in several places in this wonderful state. I am a teacher at the high school and while my 99.5% white/caucasian populated students like to think they are ghetto sometimes, they really have no clue. Honestly, the place is getting a major face lift/make over but like any park/resort, some days Mountain Creek can bring in the best trash of NY and NJ......as many Great Adventure fans I’m sure have experienced. Hope this helps.

I thought Action Park was great. That is the only time that I have been to this park. Talk about a death trap. A person died from bungee jumping. A go-kart blew up. There was just so much insane junk that went on there. The slides just weren't safe at all I'm surprised that people didn't come away with worse than bruises and cuts. I have not been to the new Mountain Creek, but I did apply for a public relations position there. I'm crossing my fingers.

And the water slides with the loop never opened. I'll look for the picture.

Scroll down and there is a picture of it.

EDIT: Here's some more pictures!

Look how shallow that splash area is, and look how they have to spray the kid down because the splash area water was so cold they didn't want them to go into shock when they touched it!

Hey Max....

Do you teach at VTHS??? I went there......back in '90...ugghh....

Yup....Vernon is totally being this upscale little town now. I used to live right on Rt. 565.

Go Vikings!

As for Action Park.....that place was so amazing during the open season! They had the best alpine slides, speed slides, deadly tube rides, indy lola race cars.....how fun!

I used to work on the Bungee tower and the Slingshot (original reverse bungee) back in 92-93.

Hercules......

Stop spewing false media!

No one has ever died on the bungee tower,(an old man broke his ankle getting of the airbag) No Gokart has ever blown up....sorry! But you are wrong with the info.

Im not trying to be nasty, but its simply not true. Yes people have died there......some one drowned in the wave pool, people burning themselves on the alpine slide, but get your facts straight before posting.

Yes Matt, I am the High School Band Director at VTHS. http://www.vthsband.org Not sure how big the school was when you were there but it's huge now. About 1500 students just at the high school. Glad to see you had a postive Vernon upbringing! Mountain Creek is developing quick! Constructions picks on The Village is coming!
